THinking of buying cheap scooter

Although rain will be problem, I am thinking buy a cheap scooter for transport

I have tried Honda Phantom, low seat and good to manoevure but am thinking more like Vespa or Singapore Post type of scooter

Any recommendations, thanks

You want cheap and reliable scooter go for the Bajaj...... although old model from the 70s but it is very tough and reliable and need little maintenance unlike the Vespa, Piaggio or other modern scooters.

Or if you are looking for those scooter-like motorcycles.... try the Honda Wave..... most reliable of all the scooter bikes among its category and extremely fuel efficient.

I have a friend who always ride it back to Mae Sai every month with his Burmese wife on pillion and they have not encountered any mechanical problems with it..... very reliable scooter bike. :D

kymco is best. since taiwanese have much experience in scooter, look at the number of scooter in taiwan.

Kymco is not cheap for a scooter. And because it is electric scooter fuel consumption is high + maintenance and repair bills also expensive. TS want cheap and reliable. :D

Bajaj is still the best..... some spare parts no need to go mechanic can get from hardware shop and DIY. :p It is simple scooter, cheap and economical fuel consumption. :)

Make sure you know what you are getting into. I do not want to go visit you in hospital.

Singapore roads get more dangerous every day. A lot of heavy vehicles driven by Foreign Talents. They do not give a f**k who they run over. Locals also drive very impatiently and dangerously.

I use all kind of vehicles every day, 2-wheeled and 4. It is so dangerous these days, even driving 4-wheeler, I must jam brake and swerve to avoid accidents, every day.

But I must admit, scooter is the cheapest means of getting around, even cheaper than bus/MRT. Go for Yamaha X1-R, if you still want to ride after reading the above.

Now all getting serious about the topic but the tread starter not available!
That what I like this forum not those making fun of people and give alot of bullshift out of the topic.

.........

I still remember my younger days when I had a scrambler. It was a cheap, & fast way to get around town. I would have gotten another bile/scooter if it was safe. Bet alot of people have thought about it at one time or another, but....

In Malaysia you have dedicated motorcycle lanes, don't even have to pay toll. In Spore I think you need fast reflexes & alot of luck to survive. Driving on 2 wheels during the rainy serious can also be scary with poor visibility & hdro planing

ha...lol...scrambler! Last time,me and my biker friends always disturb scrambler biker.:D:D:D we were riding road bikes then but class 2A and above...

A jet ski would be more suitable for Singapore's roads.

Back then I thought scramblers were more stylish than road bikes in the 200cc class. I never got my license & used a PDL & L plate throughout until I sold the bike

It was a good way to get around Spore in those days as there were no MRT, aircon buses, no ERP. The CBD system only applied to cars. Really miss the good old days.

That's called a hit-and-run TS.

do a search, he is the lao sai man

he can't take public transport because he can't hold in his shit

sometimes he runs to the side of the road to let go

that's why he can only ride scooter

Hi all, Seem you guys all are off the track.

TS is referring to Singpost scooter which should be a manual scooter which only vespa and LML are selling in SG.

Don't think Japan and Taiwan are producing any manual scooter nowadays.

Hi all,
Seems I was mistaken. Just realised earlier that singpost has changed their scooter to automatic one. Sori...

it's true that riding a bike is dangerous especially when there is rain.
But it's definitely a very economical form of transport. So I still think it's worth it,just be extra alert when on the road.

Extra alert don't ensure till you live to a ripe age of 90 .

Any idiot can run you over . There are so many around !
