"In either case, it would be “the sharpest, deepest” and longest recession in the Republic’s history, in the words of Second Permanent Secretary Ravi Menon of the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI), setting the backdrop against which Finance Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnamwill unveil his Budget this afternoon. A statement of such nature coming from the perm sec of Finance is bloody serious. This guy is by nature calm and collected. He was transferred to Admin after a long stint with MAS. This guy grasp of econometrics is very strong.

I near fell off my chair when I read it.

later see how and from tomorrow all the budget analysis will flood the news. buyer advantage confirmed now. sellers better panic.

Tharman is an ex-ACS boy and is bound by GOD to tell the truth according to the christian teachings of the school. :D

Well,he is slow compared to the private bakers who warned about 50% price collapse a year ago and the 300,000 retrench workers a week ago.

PAP works real slow to me,even one of the most brillaint guys fr PAP as you rightly claimed.

Sounds like the gahmen is preparing us for another 'tighten our belt/bitter medicine' budget

what can us the lessor mortals do?

how can we brace ourselves for the impact n to survive?

Just to add on to my previous post...

I find that when it comes to important matters like homeland security and economy (money), the gahmen co-ordinate their media releases very carefully.

Can't recall them ever sending contradictory messages. Maybe that's what the PMO is for...?

Come to think of it yes. I wonder how it works without getting the signals mixed up.
