KUALA SELANGOR - A group of thieves failed to break into an ATM at a bank in Taman Yu, Sungai Buloh, near here.
In the early morning incident, the thieves used an oxy-acetylene torch to cut open the machine but only managed to create two holes.
Kuala Selangor OCPD Supt Mohd Ahmad said police were alerted by the public at 7.48am yesterday and found the external door of the ATM prised open.
He said no money was stolen from the machine and the case was being investigated under Section 451 of the Penal Code for trespassing and theft.
A source revealed that the robbers had tilted the CCTV camera outside the bank, while the camera inside the bank was covered by black tape.
The CCTV camera at a neighbouring motorcycle shop was also sealed with black tape.
However, the police managed to recover eight fingerprints and a palm mark which have been sent to the forensics lab for testing, said the source.
Besides the ATM, there was also a cash deposit machine at the bank but it was untouch-ed.
