This is to protect consumers, diners from being infected at food courts, hawker centres, restaurants, coffee shops, fast food chain outlets.

Don't you think so?

What are we waiting for?

Masks alone will do nothing. Transmission occurs mainly via the hands.

It may not be 100%. But the foodhandler may be an infected individual who doesnt know he has the virus.
Masking them up reduces the risk of transmission to patrons.

If you're so damned paranoid why don't you just stay at home and lock yourself in your room till this "terrifying" virus no longer threatens your precious existence?

How on earth has the world ended up with such a risk adverse attitude towards life? Just 50 years ago mankind was still journeying to places so hostile that there was less than a 50/50 chance of making it back alive.

Now a 0.0001% probability of death that is not mitigated will result in a law suit.

Why are you so triggered? I am just making a suggestion.

For food handlers, the main risk is that people go to work even when they feel sick, because they can't get paid otherwise. Many of them also don't have proper hygiene. The Mandarin Orchard and Spize cases are good examples. Food handlers were spreading bacteria like they were wondrous gifts to humanity.

There must be an overhaul of the system where the govt steps in to provide adequate sick day coverage, or otherwise, compel companies by law to do so.

For a carrot-on-stick approach, those who handle food even when sick must be severely punished. I recommend jail plus caning.

KNN my uncle ask you 1 simple question - why currently there are not many patients in icu with influenza KNN
There are currently many patients in ICU with influenza but they are not considered newsworthy so the media can't be bothered to talk about them.
My uncle refering to sg and also comparing the number of influenza cases in sg vs those in icu compared to number of covid19 cases in sg vs those in icu KNN

they already do that when serving durians in china. the durianvirus is considered by some to be the most virulent and potent strain.

KNN that time when ccs was holding the 大茶饭 meeting he said his first line to give mask is the medical staffs then next the front liners rike taxi drivers and food sellers etc KNN so he could have this mandate law for food handler but now they already on the verge of releasing the travel ban to live a waiting for death approach so is no longer applicable KNN

Minister say masks not enough pls dun find useless ways to use up our precious resources

This is a callling from God to reduce cross human contamination through population control....

Who is next ro chop?

The 300,000 no NSF jiuhu kia crossing to Singapore everday is contagious. They eat wild animals too... no basic toilet facility and dirty water tanks...

He is triggered because in his mind he is never wrong. He likes to sound clever and intellectual and everyone has to agree with his mumbo jumbo.

I'm neither clever nor intellectual. I just find this paranoia over a minor issue ridiculous.

It's the same with Measles nowadays. A small handful of cases is classified as an epidemic whereas the way that my parents dealt with measles was to take me to a measles party to ensure that I caught it when I was as young as possible. This was despite the fact that 1 out of 300 children would die from the disease.

Parents calculated the odds and knew that it was better to get it sooner rather than later.

Now we have this virus which is minor in the vast majority of cases and we act as if it was the end of the world despite the fact that there are so many other things more likely to kill us.

The whole world has gone mad.

Everyone of us value our life differently. It also depends whether you have children. I have a young daughter. She is the most precious person to me. I don't think I am making a mountain out of a molehill. It's what a person has vs what is one's perceived threat level. And I am merely putting up suggestions which you dismissed them absolutely, as your perceived threat level for you and you yourself is lower.

Numbers and ratio tallying time please...
In sg (not USA) comparing the number of influenza cases in sg vs those in icu compared to number of covid19 cases in sg vs those in icu

If you're worried about your young daughter then why don't you look up the stats and you'll find that the corona virus either does not infect young children or if it does it is a very mild infection.

You should worry far more about dengue fever, car accidents, Meningococcal disease, (usually fatal and prevalent in SEA) etc when it comes to your child's health.

Do you have a proper car seat for your daughter? Do you use the overhead bridge when crossing? Do you have all the necessary vaccinations when you go abroad?

There are so many things far more important than worrying about a virus which is pretty harmless as far as your daughter is concerned.
