Why had I always named Lee Kuan Yew the Old Dog Thief a Dog of the west? The evidence had always been provided by the old dog himself.

Not Obama nor Clinton nor Gordon Brown nor Queen Elizabeth no western leader had been pushing the English language to Chinese in PRC, but it had to be this fake Ang Moh Old Dog Thief Lee Kuan Yew!

Why?

Because Ang Moh is LKy's god.

And he is the most loyal dog for the Ang Mohs.

While Ang Moh aren't pushing their own language in PRC, LKy the Old Dog Thief have to go and do it!

Speaking at the inaugural FutureChina Global Forum Meeting, Mr Lee said mastering bilingualism is difficult but China has to create an English-speaking environment to master the language.

During the forum, Mr Lee also tackled a host of other issues, ranging from United States-China relations to political succession in China and bilingualism.

Organised by Business China, the theme of the forum was "Strategic Insights for riding China's next decade".

Responding to a question, Mr Lee said the role of the US as a world power will change in about two decades' time and it has to come to terms with China becoming a super power.

He said that the US knows that China's gross domestic product will be greater in 20 to 30 years' time.

And while ties between the two superpowers fluctuate, Singapore will not be affected said Mr Lee.

Singapore, Mr Lee said, keeps an equal distance between China and the US.

On the situation in East Asia, Mr Lee said regardless of political and other non-confluence interests, China, South Korea and Japan will not be able to form a centre of power.

He said the sheer proximity of South Korea and Japan to China will mean that the two countries will ride on China's growth.

However, Mr Lee said this does not mean Japan will align itself with China politically. He pointed out that Japan and South Korea will continue to have close ties with the US.

Mr Lee also touched on political succession in China.

He pointed out that China's next leadership succession is already in place and that the country is not short of outstanding leaders.

But Mr Lee noted that corruption will be China's greatest problem.

Doing business in China requires connections, but Chinese officials understand that Singaporean businessmen are reliable and not corrupt.

He said: "The Taiwanese are ruthless, Hong Kongers are shameless and Singaporeans are ignorant. People who are ignorant are not corrupt and reliable."

English is still a very important language. So much so that even PRCs in china are learning them. If you have a good command of English, you could be an English teacher in china and earn quite a substantial amount of money there. Look at the number of ang mohs that did just that where they probably can't even hold a decent job back in their country. There is nothing wrong with learning English.

Having said all that, having a good command of Mandarin would get you more contacts/network/socialised with the PRCs. As much as they realised the importance of English, many of them do not have a good/willing attitude in learning English. If your command of Mandarin is substantial enough, they do appreciate you conversing with them in Mandarin. What is really sad about Singapore is that the education system has "devalued" the use of dialects and the sub-standard Mandarin that was taught in schools. English are given too much importance to the detriment of other languages. Your point about LKY emphasizing English too much has its merits. I think the intention of making English the lingua franca in Singapore was good to begin with, its the implementation of the policy that is bad. China won't go the route of Singapore, where there is a mass deemphasizing of Mandarin in 2-3 generation. Rather they would have their own culture embed into their daily lives. Look at the various china, chinese only website, youku, baidu, etc.

For PRC I recommend 3 foreign languages that need to receive attention of Chinese people:

1. Arabic Lanugage - this is where the OIL & CAPITAL & also Some Market will come from to the PRC Chinese.

2. Russian Language - old Soviet partner will give PRC Chinese: ARMS TECHNOLOGY, WEAPONS, GAS, and STRATEGIC SECURITY PARTNERSHIP

3. Indian Languages - this is INDUSTRIAL PARTNER & HUGE MARKET for PRC Chinese.

When PRC command the ties (not absolutely necessarily via any particular language) with these 3 partners, PRC's future and interests are very secured and assured.

The majority of English speaking world is essentially BURDEN & DEBTORS (who have no $$$ to repay PRC) & ENMITY to PRC. The military and economic and financial abilities are collapsing in most of the English speaking world. There isn't much hope and future with English Language.

The more PRC got tied deeper with English Speaking World the more is PRC going to be in potential trouble. Foolish Old Dog Thief Lee Kuan Yew is completely blind and out-dated. He is a joke!

You have examples now of cotton farmed in the US, shipped to china, milled, manufactured into cloths, then shipped to US to be assembled and finally shipped back to china to be sold. Its just one simple example in the program.
