The poor get to own houses, too
KUALA LUMPUR: The Government is considering a proposal to set up a micro-financing scheme for the low-income group to enable them to purchase low-cost People’s Housing Project (PPR) flats in the city.
Federal Territories and Urban Wellbeing Minister Datuk Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin said the ministry would be proposing the scheme to the Cabinet soon.
He said the scheme would help those who are unable to secure financing from banks to own their own flats.
“We would like to help these people own a place of their own instead of the current practice of renting the units,” he said.
