The Political Folder awaits GMS' post BE analysis

Bro if u r PAP, what should PAP do henceforth to return to being the PAP of 1959 and 1963 - a people's party that enjoy the people's support?

Or is the patient terminal and should only be transferred to hospice to await his inevitable demise?

There will be an internal shakeup within PAP. May even fracture the party, who knows? The old chaps are too entrenched in their own self-serving interests which have nothing to do with the people's interests. Everyone however is aware that if they don't change, they will continue to lose votes.

Hi guys, here's taken from yawning bread comments page, skponggol wrote this in the aftermath:

NSP can start to cut their loss in Tampines and Marine Parade while SDA can forget about Pasir Ris-Punggol. SDP may have to give up on Tanjong Pagar if WP chooses to go in there in GE2016.
WP, which has been so unwilling to negotiate with other parties on equal footing, what’s there for them to sit down and talk with other parties in GE2016?
With this by-election success, WP should be able to attract more people than other parties.
The choice for the voters would be limited to PAP and a moderate Opposition.

There u go again.... Naively dismissive of the law of the jungle...
WP EARNED THRU LOW'S LEADERSHIP ITS STANDING IN THE EYES OF THE ELECTORATE...

'equal footing', 'negotiate', 'moderate opposition'.... This guys has shades of goh meng seng... Opposition Unity, zimbabwee has same stature as USA in UN ... Sigh...

Imho, Low's poliical savviness is unrivalled amongst all opposition leaders today including opp leaders turned political observer

Whatever GMS writes here, u know what is his real post BE analysis?

"How come Png can become MP while someone as great as me cannot huh?"

Mr Goh Meng Seng, we're waiting for your post BE analysis. You're taking a bit too long.

GMS is recovering from the shock (WP results better than expected) and hurt (his prediction wrong). I think he's in Lautau island meditating before the Buddha statue :D

GMS is very active on fb - no indication of him being on Lantau. But his postings there were displaying symptoms of PTSD, i.e. incoherent, going around in circles and always harping on the same themes. I don't think the PTSD was the result of HG BE - it might be from the last GE.

I guess LTK is a bit exaggerating here. 20 years ago, the main stream media was even worse than the present BE reporting. We didn't see opposition rebuttals printed on front page headlines 20 years ago but we have seen it now. Relatively speaking, the allocation of space has improved tremendously. It is unfortunate that things don't seem to work towards WP's advantage due to its various internal problems, but this has nothing to do with the press.

It seems that LTK is angry about the newspapers publishing "Secret Squirrel" leaked document (read his Zaobao's reply) as well as the interview. If LTK really believes in providing information to voters to make "informed choice", he won't have argued against Zaobao's initial publication of the leaked document.

In all fairness, Zaobao has seek to get clarification from WP which he has not denied. It is not a difficult thing to answer whether the leaked document is genuine or not and definitely doesn't need 18 hours to do such verification. It is WP's inadequacy in managing that situation which leads to the prolonged doubts lingering in voters' minds.

The leaked document mainly provides voters more information of the issue at hand and plainly contradicts on what Png Eng Huat has said earlier literally. He cannot blame the press for publishing this leaked document because the voters have the right to know whether what Png Eng Huat has said literally is true or not.

From WP's perspective, they may think that they have answered to the alleged contradictions adequately but they have not. It is a clear contradiction still lingering on. The only saving they have, ironically, is from Eric Tan who has confirmed that Png has indicated that he doesn't want the NCMP seat. But even with that, it is clear that Png has misrepresented himself in the initial CNA interview and he should retract that statement graciously and in a timely manner.

Of course LTK is right to blast at the selection of photo on ST front page. There is a great difference between news reporting vs commentary. The headline was to reflect what TCH has said about the issue and it is inappropriate to put it as such. It should accredit such headline to TCH instead of publishing as a matter of fact.

While LTK has the point that MyPaper shouldn't publish the interview with Secret Squirrel without first confirming whether he or she is really WP member or not, but please bear in mind that many scandals like Yaw-gate wouldn't be uncovered if anonymous whistle blowers were to be just ignored.

Regardless on whether there is publication of Secret Squirrel's interview or not, doubts would naturally have cast upon the internal cohesiveness of WP up till now. Only CEC members have records of the Minutes of CEC meetings, unless we were to suspect espionage sources. No matter how we look at it, the leak is most probably have to start from the CEC. The resignation of key candidates (from Eric Tan to Fazli and Sajeev) and PLG enigma would already cast doubts on WP. Shifting all the blame of such doubts on WP to the publication of Secret Squirrel's interview is unwise. Instead, WP should seriously re-examine its internal problems thoroughly.

There's really nothing to wait for. GMS will simply refuse to give Worker's Party any credit for the victory, instead attributing the victory to the ground's anger at PAP policies and the lack of credibility for the PAP candidate. After which, he will burst into a long tirade criticizing the former leaders that have scorned him.

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.

Correct, he won't be meditating before the statue. He would be meditating beside the statue.

Things are plain to see. LTK is in parliament with a GRC win and retained HG even after scandals. GMS todate has nothing to his name. Who has a credibility issue?

He has added a new word in the dictionary - Analis

GMS' facebook is so filled with anti-WP/LTK nuances and undertones. He almost comes across as a sympathiser of PAP and the partial mainstream media. And what is so sad is for someone who has been in opposition politics for so long, his reading of the leaked document issue is so superficial - the most impt question on everybody's lips must be: why is this confidential internal document leaked to the mainstream media? If the "mole" is internal, given the distrust of MSM, why would this be given to MSM if it's not to inflict max. damage to WP's election chances? Sidestepping these more crucial issues can only mean GMS is dumb, or deliberately focusing on perspectives that help his personal agenda. I guess we don't need Einstein to tell which is the case.

Do we really want to read GMS' post-BE analysis? My answer is YES. Not because I'm looking forward to fabulous insights given by a learned man, but I know he'll be spilling some lopsided rubbish, which will make me happy just to take him on (although he'll run away, avoid the difficult questions and then tell you a true politician knows how to "siam").
