A lot of prominent Catholics, including leading lawyers are parishioners of the Novena Church.
The lawyers who acted for the Church and others who were wrongly accused were kind enough to work on their case pro bono.

It helps if you have lawyers who are friends. They come in VERY handy. I have an old schoolmate who is a lawyer.
She did some legal work for me pro bono. But it would have stretched our friendship if I had asked her to do further work.

Is anyone still interested in this case or heard anything about the family involved in this case?

SINGAPORE: The woman who sued Novena Church six years ago for allegedly causing her psychological trauma through an alleged exorcism is now involved in another case -- this time, Mdm Amutha Valli Krishnan's daughter is accused of threatening her with a knife.

28-year-old Subashini Jeyabal was charged in July with criminal intimidation for placing the knife to her mother's neck. She allegedly threatened 57-year-old Mdm Amutha Valli in late June 2013 at their Ang Mo Kio flat.

Goodness gracious shit!

Then again, this latest development is not surprising in the least.

SINGAPORE: The daughter of the woman who unsuccessfully sued Novena Church over an alleged failed exorcism was on Monday sentenced to a three-month day reporting order for criminal intimidation.

Under the order, 28-year-old Subashini Jeyabal will be required to report regularly to a reporting centre for supervision and counselling.

She also has to serve 150 hours of community service within a year.

Subashini, an educational therapist, had threatened her mother -- Madam Amutha Valli Krishnan -- by placing a knife to her neck.

She had also told Madam Amutha Valli that she would kill her and cut her.

The incident took place in June last year at their Ang Mo Kio flat.

Two other charges for causing hurt were also taken into consideration during sentencing.

Subashini had kicked her mother in the stomach and slapped her father -- Mr Suppiah Jeyabal -- that same day.

According to court documents, the incident was sparked by a quarrel between Subashini and Madam Amutha Valli, after Madam Amutha Valli barged into Subashini's room accusing her of stealing money and having illicit relationships.

In her court case, Madam Amutha Valli had claimed that the failed exorcism occurred in 2004 at the Novena Church, and sought damages from the church, as well as its priests and volunteers.

She alleged in her suit that the incident had caused her psychological trauma.

After a trial spanning two years, the High Court dismissed her case in 2009. - CNA/nd
