I think he knows that China will never help to build up their economy. It has been so many years with China cooperation .Yet N Korea remains an economic backwater compared to their southern neighbour. US on the other hand has done a lot to bring up South Korea after the Korean War.

Kim can’t even pay for their accommodation in Singapore . That ‘s how bad it is. They need massive economic aid and investments from US and it’s allies.
 
Kim is the biggest winner in this summit if I may. Paper promises given, his toy factory can continue to be used to exchange for aid, his position securely cemented at home.

Trump could only thump his chest to say he pulled this off, but couldn't provide details or timeline to which Kim will denuclearise totally and/or irreversibly.

Pinkie can learn to sit like a man first.

End of the day, is the world safer after this ice breaker Singapore meeting. If yes, the meeting is successful. It's a good start when enemies start talking instead of bombing each other.
