Movie Industry Experts on ‘The Hunger Games’ Trailer
The Hollywood Reporter gathered the opinions of film experts about The Hunger Games trailer released today.
“It’s a tonally interesting bit of world building based on the footage we’ve seen here, and I’m really liking the sense of reality that the trailer establishes,” writes HitFix’s Drew McWeeny.
“Jennifer Lawrence looks like she’s going to be a strong presence as Katniss Everdeen,” he added. …
“Director Gary Ross seems to have gone all out in capturing the Capitol’s opulence with the garish Effie Trinket, played by Elizabeth Banks, cheerfully determining the fates of these impoverished kids,” wrote The Los Angeles Times’ Nicole Sperling.
“I can’t think of a more brilliant way to end the trailer to director Gary Ross’ movie than watching a terrified Katniss and Peeta, played by Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson, racing for their backpacks and the protection of the woods,” wrote Entertainment Weekly’s Karen Valby.
“The smartest move made with the two-and-a-half minute trailer was showing everything leading up to the games. The only glimpse we get inside the arena comes at the very end, as the Tributes rush the cornicopia and pick up their weapons,” wrote Jarett Wieselman of The Insider.

Lionsgate Making a Smart Bet with The Hunger Games
Last week we posted about the necessity of The Hunger Games‘ success for Lionsgate to justify its sequels. And today Fortune is reporting on the film’s potential to be a huge hit and change the game for the studio – analysts say the series could be worth more than $700 million worldwide.
“This is a hit-driven business and even if they have a modest-sized hit, they’ve never had anything remotely close to this before,” says Doug Creutz, a senior research analyst with Cowen & Co. in San Francisco.
While few anticipate a Harry Potter-like whirlwind in terms of merchandising or theme-park rides with The Hunger Games, the studio is patterning more along the lines of Twilight’s take, even working with the same agency, Striker Entertainment, that handled the vampire series to push first into specialty shops and then big box stores after the film is released, Drake explained during the company’s analyst call.
And while you can’t ever really guarantee a winner, some analysts aren’t backing down:
“On the low end this will be a movie over $100 million, and on the high end this could be transformative,” says Matthew Harrigan, a senior analyst with Wunderlich Securities in Denver. “A bullish argument would say that on four movies, after tax, they could make their market cap. You don’t want to assume that because you never know. But this looks like it’s pretty wired in success.”

Have you seen the trailer?
Do you like it? It is one of the better trailer made.
But, a few things
1) if the tribute cut off the head of the mannequin , why does he have to waste energy to stab into the abdominal. Dun tell me he going to kill someone by chopping the head off then stab him? That is so dumb.
2) the arrow shoot by katniss into the center of bulleyes at the target, it is impossible that the arrow is horizontal, it must be shot at very near distant, because at long range, you have to aim higher, to compensate for the gravity pull on the arrow.
3) why is the game maker Seneca Crane act so surprise that katniss can use a bow.
4) so unfair to have 12 years old in physical combat with 18 years old, at least give the 12 years old a gun to level things out

she looks too clean, well nourished, well toned with flawless skin, and too well groomed and costumed to be a tribute in the hunger games. tributes are small, hungry, dirty, under nourished, scrawny, boney desperadoes who look more like golum than a greek god or goddess.

yeah you get what you want if it is a small budget film, but this movie cost 80 million US dollars. Therefore, only the beautiful can be lead, also since this is a big budget Hollywood movie, they will change it slightly from the book.
It is not bad right, she can't be so boney if she is hunting squirrels and birds to supplement her diet.
