LKY is a bastard who believe that ppl muz fear him more than the mafia. He is ok from 1955 to circa 1980 as he gel the ppl w/o greedy, selfish arrogant thoughts.
After circa 1980s to the 90s and up to now he suddenly woke up or something catalyzed his mind and he realised that his altruistic past is a thing of the past.
It could be because in the 1981 Anson by-election, where our late JBJ broke the PAP dominance and won a seat, he suddenly summoned forth his primal Hakka instinct (which was simmering just at the background of his subconciousness) of greed and plundering of the nation.
With the 1988 GE where Eunos GRC nearly fell into Francis Seow led opposition (and the historical 4 SDP and WP opposition MPs who won at the ballot boxes in the 1991 GE) that he made up his mind to teach ALL the young and old that (ie us silly UNGRATEFUL silliporeans and less than mortal Silliporeans) some lessons.
When the CLOB fiasco (1990) and other blunders* emerged, he wasted no time in raising the PAP politicians' salaries) up to the stratosphere. That is the background, genesis and the justification of their "million dollars" ministers' salaries.
He came from a rich Hakka family and he decided that he wants (before he leave this planet and his future generations) to leave his his blood and kin with hundreds of million or billion dollars war chest.
He wanted his name for posterity. That's why we have the LKY School of Public Policy....etc....
