Your definition of wealth is much stereotyped and narrowed like PAP - kampong or rural area is equivalent to poverty. That's why they get rid of all the kampong.

For all I know, more people were wealthier in kampong day than now. They were generally more happy and healthier, too.

Skyscraper is no big deal as compared to rural area.
