I think the whole idea is to suck in european money into US economy. In 2017, germany followed by most european nations took out their gold reserve from US central bsnk.and continued building up that reserve.

u can not print any minerals resources energy resources agri items water fertilizer and what not, doesn't change the fact that paper currency or electronic currencies are easier to transact with, easier for central banks to issue at will and this also ensures that resource rich countries don't gain oversized influence compared to today.
