In the past, when an India Indian gets an influential job in a company here, he will use this influence, whether as HR or department head, to bring in all his friends and relatives and the entire village from Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, etc. With the free trade agreement, there is something about Indian white collars coming here too.
The British, while occupying mainly high-end postings, are now less and less high-end. Now as the British economy continues to slide and youth unemployment increases there, the British here will pull in their own friends and relatives from London, Manchester and Portsmouth, etc. Instead of on expat terms, many of these British are on local terms.
This surely displaces local jobs. While I prefer some angmoh men to the softie local mother's boys or those who robert their CPF to foxes, I am very disappointed that the angmoh men are now poor and cannot even to send a date home in a past-midnight taxi.
