I'm stirring nothing. I'm suggesting a solution. If all the Chinese in Malaysia embrace Islam and adopt Muslim names, the tensions that exist will evaporate very quickly. In Thailand, skin colour is a non issue. There is no reason why Malaysia can't achieve the same harmony.

You mean, tomorrow I go to Geylang Seria, buy a couple of songkoks, sarongs & whatever , change my name to Malay or Muslim one & embrace Islam??

When I was in school, we were taught English as the main language, Chinese as the second language & a third language in which all of us have to take MALAY, which was a non examination subjects. We were taught to read, write & converse in Malay. This was removed by the M.O.E., in later years, the later generation know only, half past six English & Manadarin, many neither proficient in English nor Chinese...

My Chinese friends in Malaysia, speaks & write, Malay, English & Chinese, speaks Mandarin, Malay & their mother tongues, which could be, Hakka, Cantonese, Hokkien & the other minor ones, like Teochew, Hainanese etc

It is people, who bring up the race divide that stir up the harmony that had been built since 1969. We are not talking about skin color.. or hair or eye color...we are talking , as one people , regardless of what we look like, what or we speak, believe in.

You are being racist..

UMNO is bloody racist and ask them to quit playing the racial card.

If all Malaysian Chinese were to vote for MCA, would UMNO say that?

What are they trying to do? Have another 513?

Phui!!!

Instead of blaming the Chinese, they should blame themselves for not doing enough for the Chinese community!!

I think this quote from Chen Show Mao's maiden speech in Parliament encapsulate my thoughts about your idiotic suggestion.

'Differences are not divisions. It is the intolerance of differences that will be divisive.' Chen Show Mao.

The Malaysian Chinese should be forced to give up their culture if they want to remain.

In Thailand and Indonesia, the Chinese cause far less trouble because they are required by law to adopt Thai/Indo names and speak the language of their hosts.

It's time to put those damned chinks in their place.

The Indon Chinese still gets slaughter whenever the Indon Malays are unhappy.

Don't repeat the 1987 'fire', Kit Siang tells Najib
May 8, 2013

DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang has warned Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak not to “play with fire” by making “race-baiting” statements targeted at the Chinese after the Sunday polls.
Kit Siang said that Najib is risking a repeat of the racial tension that emanated prior to the 1987 Operasi Lalang.
Although Kit Siang did not elaborate on the matter, in 1987 there had been an allegation, which Najib had denied, about waving a keris and a pledge to “bathe it with Chinese blood” plus a combination of other factors that caused racial tension with the Chinese community.
“Najib must ask himself, does he want to be a prime minister for all Malaysians?” Kit Siang asked.
Kit Siang said that whilst Najib might be making those statements to appease the Umno grassroots, the latter mustn’t lose sight of the 1Malaysia concept that he had espoused four years ago.

Kit Siang said that an Utusan Malaysia editorial today titled ‘Siapa dulu mulakan provokasi’ (who started the provocation) is tantamount to an admission by the paper that it had committed sedition.
In the editorial, Utusan blamed DAP for starting the provocation of racial tension via its election campaign.
The editorial was a response to DAP’s criticism of Utusan’s inflammatory front page report ‘Apa lagi Cina mahu?’ (What more do the Chinese want) yesterday.
“By publishing this, they are indirectly admitting that they have committed sedition,” Kit Siang said.

Kit Siang also urged all BN leaders, including the like of former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad and former Malacca chief minister Ali Rustam, who had repeated Najib’s views of a “Chinese tsunami”, to criticise the Utusan Malaysia headline yesterday ‘Apa lagi Cina Mahu?’ just like their Umno colleague Saifuddin Abdullah.
Saifuddin, who lost the Temerloh parliamentary seat to PAS’ Nasrudin Hassan, said that he would not blame his defeat on any particular race.
Kit Siang said that contrary to Najib’s allegations, DAP had never given the impression that votes from the Chinese community alone can unseat BN from federal power.

If the BN kept harping on how the Chinese does not appreciate the govt and support them by opting for an opposition to contest the malay government, they should assimiliate the Malaysian chinese into malaysian society long ago like Thailand, Philippines and Indonesia did to its chinese minorities.

It makes no point adding shrill diatribes and accusing the chinese of having a separated ideology vs what the malays feel for the country. The reason lies on the Malay rulers themselves who opt to let the chinese continue freely to practicse their culture and thus enabling them to maintain their chinese racial and cultural identity. They should learn from the other states in SEA who are also grappling with the Chinese problem esp in the 50s and 60s by banning the practice of their culture and initiating an assimiliation policy. It is surprising there are hundreds of Chinese schools in Malaysia when even Singapore has done away with Chinese schools and initiating a common English language long ago. PM Najib even promised to build more chinese schools for the chinese community. In the US, the Asian immigrants assimiliated into US culture and became Americanised.

This way, they will become part of the Malaysian family. With their own distinct culture tradition, how can you start blaming them for not thinking and behaving like the rest of the Majority malays in Malaysia when things don't go the way ? It is not something they can choose or control. It is a human tendency thing.

It is very unfair to the chinese community in Malaysia with news like these.

They know that this policy would be economically devastating. The Chinese would leave then to be forced to be Malays, bringing with them loads of money and business expertise. The ruling elite in UMNO will be poorer as well as all of them are living off the largesse of the Chinese tycoons.
There is NO Malaysian identity, just racial and religious identities. Until the Malays are willing to create a national identity that is not based on race and religion, there will be no assimilation.

Its never too late to start. Since they have rejected Najib and another hard line team takes over, you will see assimilation policies introduced by the Cabinet. BTW Cabinet has no Chinese representation.

Thank god the Malays aren't like their brethren in Indonesia where if you don't comply to assimilate, they just eliminate yr family. Hopefully the process will go smoothly.

This kind of calamitous picture you paint has often been painted by others, yet the reality may be very different. Money and capital always goes to places (or remains in places) which yield the greatest returns. Despite the best advice by the IMF and its top-flight economists in 1998 not to impose capital controls during the Asian Financial Crisis, Malaysia under Mahathir imposed capital controls. It worked brilliantly for Malaysia, proving the IMF wrong, even if it caused hardship to others, including Singapore and the hundreds of thousands of Singaporeans who had Malaysian shares on CLOB. Similarly, in 1998 there were anti-Chinese riots in Indonesia and billions of dollars in capital left the country, and thousands of Chinese Indonesians fled to S'pore. Yet, today, Indonesia is not a broken-backed country but, instead, is a star economic performer in ASEAN.

People can have wishful thinking about many things, but the reality is often much more sober. Dire projections prove completely unfounded.

I see a lot of fools playing into the dirty hands of Anwar. DAP garnered 10 additional Parliamentary seats this time and it is a big victory.
Anwar is behaving like a loser because as usual, with his poor judgement, he staked his entire political future in this election and now find it hard to swallow the defeat. Why should the Malaysian Chinese who is on winning momentum respond to war cries of a faggot? Fools.
