I especially looked forward to the afternoon matinee on those days.

There was another cinema nearby, can't really recall its name... Princess or something like that. Further down there is another cinema with no air conditioning.
I remember going to the defunct Bras Basah Community Centre, which was located behind the North Bridge Commercial Complex, to watch TV. The TV was perched high in a box which was locked during the day. Nearby is Liang Seah Street where a man, a little loose in the head, used to paint Liang Seah Street (nearer to the North Bridge Road junction) with all sorts of funny words and pictures.

Along the same vein, anyone remember a chap hitting a short bamboo with a stick heralding the arrival of the fishball noodle. It was catchy tune .
