Wats the fuss all about? We were already undergoing the same treatment back in 1979 when my unit were training at Saraburi/Lopburi...... this was the training SOP setup by the US Forces personnel who were the trainers back then..... bloody bunch of sadists. :(

The Thai Navy photos may look tough but they do not impress me. However tough and macho they look.
In the 1990s, there was some political crisis in Cambodia. The RSAF sent a C-130 to evacuate Singaporeans. Before being allowed aboard, the Special Forces chaps used hand held metal detectors to screen the passengers. It was an orderly event.
The Thai airforce also sent a plane and it was a free for all scramble, you had Thai air force men looking tough with M-16 held at high port, yet people were able to board with guns.
The Thai mentality is to look good but the wheels are actually falling off.

Btw, like Tonychat, I also like Thailand and Thai people. However, I don't worship them like what Tonychat does. I don't freaking think that Thailand is the best and Singapore is the worst country on this planet. I know for a fact that Singapore and Singaporeans are also better than Thailand and Thai people in many aspects!!

I would want to praise SAF too much but seriously Thai army is created to bully the normal Thais. The cannot fight. Yes they do have highly elite forces like any country and they are really good and highly discipline but also stupid. Why? Because most Thais have the slave mentality. They are good at following and waiting for commands once the leaders are not there they cannot function.
Look at what is happening last May they even have elite forces killing civilians. The Thai army is filled with corruption and it is very obvious corruption and yet the generals have no shame and still dare to face the world despite everyone knowing they are corrupt. Just google GT200 and also Royal Thai Army balloon. They are full of shit. Border clashes with the Cambodians over the past 2 years resulted in Cambodian army returning 88 Thai soldier bodies. Hey Thai border patrol are all done by elite troops special forces. What does this tell you? It tells you that Thais cannot fight and don't care for their own leaving comrades in enemy territories.
I remembered back in 1987 in Saiyoke we had one of those small joint exercises wanted to do night movement and the Thais politely told us that its after 6pm and they had just sang their anthem and lowered the flag so it is rest time and they do not move at night.
The Thai Border Patrol are not really soldiers....they are paramilitary troopers (similar to Mudland's GFF or Singkieland's Goondukas)...... furthermore they consist mainly of conscripts who are more concerned in serving out their time than fighting the enemy.
The famous elite Special Rangers assigned to the northern border region were disbanded in the 90s after the Thai Constitution was amended to remove control of any combat units under the Monarchy..... the command of the Special Rangers was transferred to the Thai Army which disbanded the unit after absorbing its armoured and airborne units...... the rest of the men were sent back to their villages.
In the 70s and 80s the Thai borders were guarded by real soldiers from the Special Rangers....... after the 90s the Thai borders are guarded by half baked soldier wannabes :p

No it wasn't the BUD/S program at that time....... they called it the US Special Warfare Training Centre....... most of the American instructors were Vietnam war veterans....... maybe a couple were ex-SEALs and so they had elements of BUDS in the training course.
