Serious Terrex AFV confiscation in HKG: The Implications and Revelations

This whole incident might be the beginning of the end for all training in taiwan. Training in Taiwan was a bad idea to begin with. Just like training in Israel was. If the chinese decide to invade Taiwan, Singapore army personnel are almost guaranteed to be caught up in the conflict.

In order to placate the chinese, the PAP will probably offer to suspend all training in taiwan, close down its bases and withdraw our personnel. They will be shifted to Australia for training.

In the past when China was a communist country, and singapore had minimal dealings with them, the training of military personnel in taiwan was not really subjected to any pressure that the chinese could bring to bear.

But now, there are so much economic ties, billions in investment in china by singapore and vice versa. 1 million PRC citizens living and visiting singapore.

China is now a major economic partner and social partner of singapore. The pap has allowed this to happen, so now they have to take PRC sensibilities into account here. Really stupid. The chinese are going to end up dictating foreign policy to us.

Why should Singapore placate the commie chinks. I say they can go to hell. Nobody needs their shit. China is a failed nation that will soon sink into oblivion.

Singapore does not need the ATCs back. Tell China they can keep them. Singapore has more than enough in reserves to buy thousands of replacements.

That is correct. China's raise to power is only recently and nobody know if it will last given the corruption and failed system of Communism.

On operational level, we don't need taiwan bases anymore since we got defence arrangements with other countries. Why we still keep them is to maintain our relationship with taiwan which is much isolated from international community. China though unhappy will likely close one eye so long as either roc or sg maintain a cordial relationship with mainland.

During lee teng hui time, relationship on both sides was on the brink of war. But China never uttered a single protest on ex starlight because at that point sinkieland and China were on good terms. The same during csb era, cross straits ties were very rocky but China didn't pressure us to withdraw because they don't want to jeopardise bilateral ties. During president ma tenure, China relation between roc and sinkieland were cordial and naturally beijing wouldn't want to rock they boat.

But now ties were frosty between roc and China. And relation with sinkieland was damaged because of our idiotic Pm. There is nothing to hold China back.

see the CNA news clip in which Chindian Bala played down the matter........... will he compensate the loss of the 9 IFVs?

hahahhahha. ........ one wheel at a time? The stupid SAF team that was send there to "secure" the Terrex was as I understand, was denied all access to the vehicles. So they marched in the local APL office and fucked a few staff there. But guess what, APL not owed by Stomachsick anymore. HKG APL staff can just laugh at them. All the Colonels and Capts. just squeeze balls only. How powerful is our SAF now? hahahhaha. Its better for this SAF team to bring suitcases of RMB with them to HKG. They will stand a better chance of getting the Terrex back.

wat worth is left of a sexy woman already stripped bare and mapped?

I personally don't see this terrex as anything sophisticated. The technology content wasn't high.

dun insult Dr Richard Kwok Wai Onn the CTO of ST Engrg whose project it was to design n build .... but not his effort at all as it was a angmoh who designed it and bunch of angmohs in UK who built it BUT big arseholes in STK claimed credits. pay increases and promotions for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is how fortune is made in ST Engrg / Kinetics

That is bad news for sinkieland, whores here are not made in sufficient quantities, they are imported en masse from chinkland! Imagine the price of whores rising up 3 times due to heavy demand and insufficient supply!!

Singapore to exercise ‘full rights to flex our military muscles’ in recovering armoured carriers: Defence Minister

SINGAPORE: Singapore will exercise its “full rights” in recovering the armoured vehicles that were seized by Hong Kong customs authorities,
Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen said on Tuesday (Nov 29).

Shipping contractor APL will meet Hong Kong authorities later on Tuesday to discuss the matter, Dr Ng said.
The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) are closely monitoring the outcome of the meeting and will decide on “an appropriate course of action” afterwards, he said.

“After this meeting, the reasons and legal basis for detention will be made clear. We have to wait for the outcome of the meeting.

“MINDEF (Ministry of Defence) and the Singapore Government will then commence proceedings to recover assets.
We aim to comply with all regulations and then exercise our full rights in recovering our assets," Dr Ng said, speaking after a MINDEF event.

The nine SAF Terrex Infantry Carrier Vehicles (ICVs) have been impounded in Hong Kong since last Wednesday,
when they were being shipped back to Singapore from Taiwan after being deployed in overseas training exercises.

"WE SHOULD NOT IMPUTE MOTIVES": NG

A Chinese spokesman on Monday stated China's opposition to countries having "any form of official exchanges with the Taiwan region,
including military exchanges and cooperation".

Taiwan is viewed by China as a breakaway province outside of its One China policy.

Dr Ng said that Singapore fully respects, supports and adheres to the One China policy and will continue to do so.
He also pointed out that Singapore has played a positive role in improving cross-strait relations through hosting
historic events like the 2015 meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and then-Taiwan leader Ma Ying-jeou.
Asked how Singapore would respond to China stating it would "make representations" over the issue,
Dr Ng said this would be left to the Foreign Affairs Ministry and diplomatic channels to take up.

He added that SAF's overseas training exercises have "never been secret".

"People know where we train openly ... and any training matters between us and other countries are bilateral," said Dr Ng.
"We should not, until the facts come out, muddle the picture and impute various motives."
"SAF will continue to train overseas based on existing agreements between countries."

He also reiterated points made by Chief of Army Major-General Melvyn Ong earlier in the day - that commercial shipping of military equipment is not new.
"Singapore has been doing it ever since we've had overseas training, over many decades and thousands of ships. There has been no loss or detention."

The Terrex vehicles, in particular, have been transported by commercial means ever since their introduction into service, said Dr Ng.
"We should not speculate on why Hong Kong customs offloaded and detained SAF assets," he concluded.
"Until the facts are established, any speculation is premature; unwarranted and unfair to Hong Kong authorities or any other country. We will wait for the facts."

The Chinese government has officially offered Singapore to shift its training facilities to Hainan Island which has been refused at least once in maintaining status quo,[6] with official annual military exercises known as Exercise Starlight (星光計畫)[7] in Taiwan. And this is from wiki. They slapped china even before this

STK was nothing more than a financer and a assembly factory as far as the terrex is concern. Which part of the afv is a sinkieland product? Even the engine are made in USA.

terrexgate!! LOL!

Perhaps the Australia training grounds investment is really a hedge against that of Taiwan's training grounds, knowing full well that Taiwan is in a politically contentious position?

why spend so much money in training grounds in Oz, Tw and Th???? Bloodsy asses wasting so much of our hard earned money

guys, have some faith in your leaders. In a single day, 3 high ranking personnel came out and speak about the incident just tell you that either they are showing "friendliness" to China, its politicial gesture to show face to China. Vivian say this incident do not harm SIN-China relationship, then the Chief of Army say there's nothing to it about us training in taiwan. Then Ng downplayed the incident saying not to speculate anything behind this.

This is in reciprocation of China's apparent low keyness in handling this. Except for the phony article in Global Times saying the vehicles shld be melted...which we know won't happen. This is just normal diplomacy rat-tat-tat.

it will take a phone call and a visit (after) to settle this. LHL has gone through this, he visited Taiwan just shortly before he took over and kenna fucked jia lat jia lat by China, which was later placated. This is not as serious as that incident....

So chill, yeah....the world is watching how China handle this, if they act real bully, it will send panic pangs to Korea and Japan, which will drive them into the arms of Trump.

We can still tell Trump we will buy 20 F-35s...as a businessman, he will be interested.
