Teen who put girlfriend's sex pics online gets 21 months' probation

The 14-year-old boy not only forced his girlfriend, 13 at the time, to perform oral sex on him, he also secretly filmed it.

When she refused to give in to his demands, he posted the video online, along with her full name and telephone number.

The victim started getting text messages and calls from strangers who asked her to do it for them too.

In sentencing the boy, now 17, to 21 months of probation yesterday, the judge said that while the offences were serious, they did not merit reformative training.

He also took into consideration the teen's otherwise good behaviour and satisfactory performance in school.

SINGAPORE - A 17-year-old polytechnic student was yesterday sentenced to 21 months' probation for insulting a teenage girl's modesty and other charges.

These include sexual penetration of a minor, possession of obscene films, and criminal intimidation.

He will also have to perform 150 hours of community service, stay indoors between 10pm and 6am, and have his Internet usage supervised.

The court heard that the boy made the girl perform oral sex on him after coming across pornographic material on the Internet.

He filmed her doing so without her knowledge and uploaded the video on a United States-based pornographic website together with the girl's full name and telephone number.

The offences were committed between April 2009 and August last year.

Both the accused and the victim cannot be named to protect the girl's identity. The girl was only 13 when the boy first had sex with her.

Their relationship soured when he asked the girl to perform oral sex on him on several occasions and she refused. She agreed after he threatened to tell people they had been having sex.

The girl told a teacher about the video as she was being harassed by strangers, and a police report was lodged.

In delivering the sentence, District Judge Shaifuddin Saruwan said that, while the boy's offences were serious, he could still be suitable for probation instead of reformative training - given his previously unblemished record, low to moderate risk of re-offending, and parental support.

The boy's case will be reviewed in four months' time. Kimberly Spykerman
