The impact created a small cut on his head; angry parents demanded explanation from school.
Angry that a student in her class was sleeping at his desk while she was conducting lessons, a teacher took a pencil case and hurled it at the boy, hitting his head.
The impact created a bruise and a small cut on the boy's head, leading his furious parents to demand an explanation from the school.
The incident occurred at a primary school in Sembawang, when the boy was attending a science lesson. His science teacher is also his form teacher.
As he felt very tired that day, the 11-year-old said he rested his head on the table. He said he did not expect to fall asleep, but must have done so for a few minutes.
Said his mother, Mrs Lin: "He only fell asleep for about five minutes when he woke up with a start when he heard a loud sound. At the same time, he realised his head hurt a lot. His classmates were all laughing at him, as he started crying from the pain."
According to her son, Mrs Lin said the teacher also scolded him by shouting loudly: "No one is allowed to sleep in my class!".
