Will Ben Pwee, Jimmy Lee and Christopher Neo be the winners or losers in this PE2011?

PAP members helping me: Cheng Bock
Tuesday, Aug 23, 2011

Presidential candidate Dr Tan Cheng Bock has received the endorsement Mohammed Maidin Packer Mohammed, in his bid for Presidency. He says that the ex-parliamentary secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs is not the only PAP member who is supporting him.

Mr Maidin, a former PAP MP, had written in a Facebook post that he supported Dr Tan's stand on reinforcing the roots of multiculturalism in Singapore.

While Dr Tan was not willing to reveal the names of some of his PAP supporters yet, he said that his supporters come of their own accord, making it clear that he did not want any political endorsement and to be seen to be a proxy to any political parties.

He also named various opposition members, such as Ben Pwee, Jimmy Lee and Christopher Neo, as among his supporters in his Presidential bid.

As for whether Dr Tan will be holding an election rally soon, he said he wished to keep the media guessing on this.

He added: "I always do things quite differently from [the] other candidates. I surprised you, sent you mailers that took you off-guard, and maybe in a few days, you'll be surprised by another strategy of mine."

The first news above is for the PAP voters, and this news is for the opposition voters. Please don't get it wrong.

SINGAPORE: Presidential candidate Dr Tan Cheng Bock said he was disappointed that some of his former People's Action Party fellow members and those working in the government or government-linked companies were afraid to support him in his presidential bid.

Dr Tan said this during his campaign trail at Raffles City, where he met the lunchtime crowd of working professionals on Wednesday.

He was responding to questions on his comment that there was a "fear of the consequences of standing up for one's beliefs" in the online edition of a Channel NewsAsia programme, "Meet the Candidates", which was aired on Tuesday.

Dr Tan replied that some had expressed fears that they could lose their jobs if they supported him. He stressed that they should not be afraid as the Presidential Election is apolitical.

Dr Tan will be holding his rally at 7.30pm on Thursday at Hall 8 of the Singapore Expo.

He said speakers will have to stay within the boundaries of the Constitution. This means they should not engage in day-to-day politics or raise bread-and-butter issues.

Dr Tan noted that some issues raised by another candidate, Mr Tan Jee Say, at a rally on Tuesday were "out of bounds".

He added that he was "disturbed" by Mr Tan's point about checking and challenging the government.

However, Dr Tan said while he does not want to create dissent between the President and the government, it does not mean he will be "weak and just toe the government line".

TCB has been a major disappointment. Even his friends cannot be counted upon. This speaks strongly against him as a person. He obviously has very few friends in his 26 years with the PAP. The only good thing that he can now do is to snatch PAP votes away from TT.

Tell your aunties and uncles who are staunch PAP supporters to vote for him. Tell them that TT is related to LHL and that it is not good to have one family with so much power. TCB will do the job of the PAP for them if they believe in the PAP.

This should be the strategy to dilute TTs vote share.

This man is greedy. He thinks his rhetoric will pull votes from both ends for him. How wrong he is. He will surely gain some PAP votes but lose most of his opposition votes.
