Suspicion LKY is very ill???

Another suspicion is to stop backlash of LKY death similar to Margaret Thatcher death where people take to the street with banners.

Nevertheless MDA has made it even worser with the new law. Expect more lashing of LKY worldwide after his death.

* Sam take note: Singlish - worse, worser, worstest. Better, betterer, betterest. Good, gooder, gooderest.

All those things what happen under LHL's watch is also under LKY's watch since LKY is still in government, is a MM and draws a salary or benefits from govt.

LHL and LKY sama sama..

LHL and LKY sama sama..[/QUOTE]... YES..one is a Pua Cheebye whilst the other is a Lau Cheebye But both are definately Chow CheeByes

Look at LHL's mistakes:

- Mas Selamat escaped under his watch, and he failed to sack the minister responsible
- SMRT has become worse and worse under his watch; under LKY, the MRT was something at least everyone could be proud of
- Huge numbers of immigrants have entered Singapore under LHL's watch, whereas LKY actually wanted to limit immigration
- GLCs now control more of the economy than ever before, while SMEs have been marginalised -- the situation now is far worse than LKY's time
- During LKY's time, alot of civil servants/scholars were actually people who had balls and got stuff done. Say what you like about Philip Yeo, Ngiam Tong Dow, etc but at least they had core beliefs and the courage to implement them. Right now, the civil servants are just bureaucrats and not leaders. They are merely glorified administrators. Always hiding behind the 'system' and never daring to take initiative or responsibility. Whose fault is that?
- The income gap has gone up tremendously under LHL's tenure as PM. During LKY's time, it wasn't that bad.
- Singapore's productivity is amongst the lowest in the developed world right now, something that wasn't the case during LKY's time -- back then people had aspirations, they believed in working hard and moving up in society. Today, people are only concerned with short-sighted issues, working from one paycheck to the next. They have no big picture plan as far as their own careers are concerned. They want easy money, stable jobs, comfortable environments, bosses who will spoon-feed them with lots of welfare and personal 'mentoring'. Basically they don't want to think for themselves, they want their bosses to spoon-feed them and take responsibility for them.
- During LKY's time, the PAP never lost more than 2 seats in Parliament. Now, the PAP's unpopularity is at an all-time high. 60.1% popular vote is actually their worst-ever score since independence! Moreover, the PAP has never lost 7 seats in Parliament before.. even under Goh Chok Tong, there were only 4 Opposition MPs.

How can you say that LKY is a worse PM than LHL?

LHL is not cut out to be a politician, plain and simple!!!! He was forced to be one!!

You still don't get it don't you? But it's not a real surprise as anyone who hails LKY as a good PM must be very thick-headed. All the mistakes that you pointed out above are all the long term consequences of LKY's policies and his approach to governing. These mistakes do not just come about when LHL took over, but are the outcome of LKY's failed policies that are showing up now. Read the thread on the Crumbling of Singapore started by Tracy Tan and you will be rightly educated.

Lky fav activity, the shangrila dialogue is here, yet he's no where in sight. So maybe there's something going on?

The main problem with the pap is its rent seeking behaviour. This could have been corrected by GCT n LHL. But things got worse after LKY. This unholy trinity is the cause of it all. LkY is the main cause of it l as he never ensured singapore developed politically.

Maybe he kena dengue ....resting ...hopefully, his body can generate the anti-bodies to humtum the virus. If not, I send my condolences.

I am so thankful for him.

It's more like he ensured that Singapore NEVER developed politically. He basically believed that a few people that he and his successors choose could ensure the prosperity of Singapore.

LkY is the main cause of it l as he never ensured singapore developed politically.

successors are human. They can die too.

Heard from a taxi driver that LKY felt very hurt by the fervent online wishes for him to die right before National Day 2012. (There was a widespread rumour then that LKY was dying.) The driver got it in return from a passenger who was one of LKY's guards.

Why was he so surprised? Was he so blind as not to observe that people no longer display the flag at their flats during National Day, unlike the 80's and 90's? Even a child can see that.

Mr Lee Kuan Yew receives NUS honorary doctor of laws degree

The National University of Singapore (NUS) has conferred an honorary degree of Doctor of Laws on Singapore's first Prime Minister.

The award is in recognition of Mr Lee Kuan Yew's achievements as a visionary statesman who transformed education in Singapore and led the nation to first-world status on the global stage.

President Tony Tan Keng Yam, who is also NUS chancellor, presided over the ceremony at the Istana on Tuesday. An honorary Doctor of Laws degree is the university's highest accolade for outstanding individuals.

This is Mr Lee's 16th honorary degree but his first from a Singapore university. Among the 100 guests in attendance were Mr Lee's family: Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Mr Lee Hsien Yang, their wives, and Dr Lee Wei Ling.

Speaking at the ceremony, NUS President Tan Chorh Chuan said the award recognises Mr Lee's achievements in leading Singapore from Third World to First. "There can also be no better person who exemplifies the personal attributes that would inspire and energise our students, graduates and broader community in NUS and beyond, as we seek to thrive in a more complex and volatile world," said Prof Tan.

In his citation, Dean of the NUS Faculty of Law Simon Chesterman praised Mr Lee's lifelong emphasis on the rule of law. It guided his first career as a lawyer, when he chose to fight for workers and trade unions. After he entered politics, it underpinned his vision for Singapore and his approach to solving international disputes peacefully, Prof Chesterman said.

In a statement thanking the university, Mr Lee said: "Education has been critical to the growth and success of Singapore. I hope that Singaporeans will continue to seek out an education that nurtures them to think critically and innovatively to meet the diverse and complex challenges ahead."

His cronies way of paying last respect to him. This is to give old fart something to wayang than to house him at Istana store room.

And also to stop stock market collapse speculating his death.

You don't pay last respect to the death.

Did they point a gun to the Dean's head and say, give me the degree or I'll sack you you lousy FT?

Any idea where the LKY Memorial Hall will be?

Any idea where the LKY Memorial Hall will be?

A reliable source told me it will be at the Marina Bay Promenade where there is an open space with a great view of the entire bay skyline and lots of greenery. Apparently, the old fart was seen at this side several times, surveying the surroundings. This source also told me that nothing permanent is allowed to build on this site and true enough you don't see any permanent structures being erected there at all, it's just a plain open field. Knowing the greedy government, it would have sold off this piece of land in such a prime prime location, but no such plans at all.

Actually it's the old fart still seeking for glory. His character is such that he cannot allow people to forget him. This kind of award is nothing but self-serving conferred by the very people he's ruling. It's laughable in the academic world.

Either that guy stay healthy or go in peace. If sick, the State is spending so much money on his health care bills, even if alive, the State is spending so much on his expenses, house, servants, bodyguards.

hahaha...yes he is very frail looking...
saw him on tv news.......like a walking corpse....with 2 aides close beside him when walking...
