Most happy person will be his son/crown prince. Now can take over his father place as Sultan. Waiting for this position very long time.

I hear he is worse than his father. Goes to bars and don't pay his bill, sos much so that when the clubs hear he is going to roam the town they shuttered up the place.

Sultan Johor is the worst. Maybe because the only Sultan in Malaysia that still have army( only small group la I think less than 200 personal).

The one he killed was not a caddy. The caddy was a more recent episode and he whacked him with his golf clubs at the golf course witnessed by many.

The murder he committed was way before he became Sultan. If I remember correctly, after the murder, his old-man stripped him of his Tunku Mahkota title.

He was appointed Regent of Johore just hours before his old-man died and many speculated that his old-man already didn't know what he was signing away.

His father was a just and good person.

Despite the late Sultan's bad temper, he was a very sincere person to his friends.

We owe a lot to the late Eddie Barker for the good relationship between Johore and S'pore, and not to those 'chia-liao-bee' multi-million Dollar ministers!

After Eddie's retirement, he was caught for drunk-driving at Ang Mo Kio and they proceeded to charge him. The Sultan personally called up old fart to intervene, but he refused to oblige him and Eddie was convicted and fined. Consequently he made a number of hostile statements against S'pore.

That could be the reason why pinkie with his husband had to personally go and pay him a visit & polish his balls at his JB palace in 2007.

Police records showed that the 24th Sultan of Johor, Sultan Iskandar (known as Tunku Mahmud Iskandar until 1981) had committed at least fifteen counts of criminal-related offences between the 1960s until the 1990s. These offences involved the Sultan committing acts of assault, homicide and torture. Tunku Iskandar was convicted of these offences at least twice during the 1970s, but was pardoned by his father, the then-Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ismail, which relieved him of serving a jail sentence. After he succeeded his father as the Sultan of Johor in 1981, he was reported of having several more criminal-related offences, but was relieved of criminal prosecution as soverign immunity was accorded to the rulers. In 1992, two assault incidents involving Sultan Iskandar and his younger son invoked a widespread controversy which resulted in the Malaysian government making amendments to the Malaysian constitution to repeal clauses pertaining to soverign immunity.

One of the earliest alleged incidences occured in 1961, when Tunku Iskandar reportedly incarcated a policeman in a dog kennel. Reports of the incident reached his father, then-Sultan Ismail, which led to an angry Sultan stripping Tunku Iskandar of his "Tunku Mahkota" title. Another similar incident took place in the 1970s, which reportedly mentioned of Tunku Iskandar chaining up two policemen in a dog kernel for a day after having offended him.

This is what I heard from my father and uncles over the years. Mahmood was flying his plane and saw a smuggling operation. He radioed the police but they were slow to respond. He landed the plane and went to the smuggling site. The smuggler tried to run away and Mahmood shot him, killing the guy.When the police finally arrived at the scene, got one dead man and Mahmood waiting . He was charged with murder and was convicted. The Mahkota title went to his younger brother. Before his father died, Mahmood was given a new title..Raja Muda.
After May 13, many Chinese lorry drivers were roughed up and beaten, by Malays troops manning roadblocks on Johor roads. The drivers complained to Mahmood. He went and investigated, accompanied by members of the Johor Regiment and some lorry drivers.When he saw what happened at a roadblock,he had the federal troops disarmed by Johor regiment troops.He then told the drivers , tit for tat.Mahmood asked his father to have all federal troops out of Johor
Finally, why Johor was spared of may13 riot. Mahmood told the Malay penghulus and Chinese and Indian community leaders to control their people emotion.If the leaders can't control the people , step down and let others do the the job.If any riot broke out, he would held the community leaders responsible and he would personally shot(executed???) in front of their people.
