Many asylum applications for refugees have not expired.
Many asylum applications for refugees have not expired.

The continuous influx of Central American refugees has entered the United States through Mexico’s north. The US media reported that a pair of Salvadoran refugees and their daughters lingered in the river bordering the Texas border in Mexico, and the mother of the girl witnessed the tragedy on the other side. It is reported that the family suspected that the US consulate had been processing asylum for too long, and decided to travel to the United States through the river. The incident inspired the outside world to pay attention to the border refugee crisis.

After US President Trump took office, the immigration policy quickly tightened, causing a large number of refugees to stay on the border. When the 25-year-old man Oscar Alberto Martinez Ramirez and his 23-month-old daughter Valeria were discovered on Monday (24th), both face down and collapsed in the river. The former black jacket was placed on the daughter. It seems to ensure that the river will not be separated when crossing the river; the girl still extends her right arm to the father's neck before the death. The 21-year-old mother, Avalos, told the Mexican authorities about the situation and said that she was watching her husband and daughter disappear into the water, and the back was vicissitudes.

The Ramirez family left Salvador on April 3 and has been waiting for US asylum in a refugee camp in Mexico for more than two months. They arrived in the refugee camp in Tamaulipas on Sunday and planned to go to the US consulate to make an application for asylum. However, after the family of three left the consulate, they immediately told their loved ones through the social network that they would cross the river to the United States.

On the afternoon of the same day, Ramirez first took his daughter to the side of the United States and planned to pick up his wife. Unexpectedly, the girl was afraid of being alone and jumped back to the river with her father. Ramirez turned back to catch her daughter, and during the flood, the two men were rolled up. The search and rescue operation was delayed due to the dark environment at that time. It was only on Monday morning that the bodies of the two were found at the river hundreds of meters away.

Ramirez’s father said in an interview: “I asked them not to leave, but he said that he wants to make money in the United States and hopes to buy a house for his family in the local area.” I don’t know what happened to the Ramirez family in the consulate, but According to the head of the refugee camp, the local consulate has received a large number of asylum applications. There are nearly 800 to 1,700 names on the waiting list. Many people have lived in the camp for several months or even years.
