Re: Strangers raise $400K to send dying girl overseas for treatment, PAP raise shit $
Human let emotion overrule rationality. Human also created medical science to prolong suffering.
Animals too have feeling for each other but they are much more rational. In ones instance, a lioness risked its life to rescue its cub that had fallen off a steep slope. In another instance, a lioness on seeing that both the rear legs of its cub were broken, stayed with it for a while, finally giving it a last sad goodbye lick and move away with the pride. It knew that even if the cub survived, it will never be able to hunt for itself.
Both mothers loved their youngs. However, they would not spare time and resources if they realized that it is pretty tough case and the young will never lead a normal life again and more important be independent. In a way, they are mentally superior to us.
Brother, let me share another 2 animals stories from 了凡四训, a book that a dad wrote for his kids
- A mother fish spawned in the upstream of a river and is dying due to exhaustion, after swimming a long distance. She was nearly blind and could swim no further as she ran out of energy. Her baby fishes around her, were so sad that they swam into her mouth. Soon the mother fish regain part of her sight and realized that she tasted her youngs. In agony, she stopped herself from eating further, till her last breath.
- A farmer was ready to butcher a cow in his yard. When the farmer walked away to his hut for a moment, the cow's calf went to swallow the butcher's knife. When the farmer returned, he found that the baby calf was in pain and quickly removed the knife stucked in the baby calf's mouth. He was so touched by the act and nursed the calf back to health and reared both mother n calf till death.
Here's another story, that I watched in a documentary.
- A team of killer whales (ocras) launched an attack on a small calf whale. They tried to suffocate the calf by preventing it from coming out of the water to breath. The mother tried all her best to protect her young but in vain. The calf became weak and soon drowned. The ocras went on to chew on the most tender part of the baby whale's cheeks and lips and forgo the remaining of the carcass. The mother whale went on to swim around the death calf who sank into the sea bed for days in grief.
Here's a video of another mother dolphin who carries her dead calf for days

If animals have such feelings and senses, why shouldn't we do a little more to cultivate one’s humanity.
