This forummer joined on 7th July and immediately began posting on a wide range of topics. Engaging, topical and certainly making this a better place. By the 30th July, he made 74 posts. Then he stopped. On 20th July he was zapped 4 points by SIFU. He did complain about moderation after nearly 2 weeks in a nice manner.


I am not sure why he stopped posting and for all you know he could be on holidays but these are the people who can make this a better place. I am sure he is not the first and if we remain with a flawed system, he won't be the last. We need to at least protect the newbies. Raider has already been impacted.

If we cannot trust the infraction system or tweak it to do the job better, we should seriously consider why we tolerate spammers and stalkers for so long. Clearly the interpretation of free speech and its accompanying free action seemed to be misguided.

Frankly the new moderates can't do much if the system is staked against them.

I for 1 agree that Raider is a genuine newbie rather than a clone.

1 of the major obstacles that newbies stop posting after registration is that their post have to be approved by the mods, it is frustrating for them cox they cant involved in the conversation up-to-date.

The 1st 15 posts? I'm not sure.....

I understand why there is moderation but making them jump thru hoops is really counter productive.

Nothing wrong with being moderated when you're new. We all had to go through that in delphi. If u are new and serious about contributing, u will live with it until u're cleared.

It's linked to rep points. You need a certain number of rep points before you have power. If it falls below that, power disappears. When it goes beyond the set figure, it's restored. I forgot what I set it to. I'll check later.

I would like to know at what point the power weakens. I believe many want to know too.

Me too have posted threads that do not insult or harm any forummers - may be irritate forummers with differring opinions or views. But that is part of the fun in this forum. But I was given infractions, or my posting simply do not see the daylight. Reason given was utterly ridiculous! I almost wanted to say goodbye to this forum. After reading all the postings are moderators and infractions, we now know that the moderators are not to be trusted because they have their own hidden agenda,

Rules and privileges in this forum ought to change. If the new PAP gahment can become more accommodating and receptive to suggestions, why should Sammyboy still want to retain something that has become unpopular and has been abused?

You're against the appointment of moderators. You're against the community moderating itself because it's abused..... so what system do you want?

By weak, do you mean you cld be zapped by somebody or anonymous giving you negative reputation pts. You cant add or zap others if you are still under mod. You can be zapped even if you have over 700 points. Of cos in a rep war, you'll lose becos the otrher guy just got more. If you have more than 500 pts, you get Inf status, and you can give people infraction, which will also reduce his pts. If anybody infracts you 3 times, you are banned from posting for 24 hrs. That's why some nuts have 200 clones. They zap your rep pts using one clone by one clone until you are weakened to zero.

Tells you a lot about human nature doesn't it. The forum is a mini Singapore. Whatever happens in real life ref NKF, PAP abuse of power, RC members behaving like mini LKYs all happen here too. It's really very interesting.

You got it wrong again. We are not against the moderators per se - you ought to look at your moderators and the process you appoint your moderators. As a host, of course, we respect your liberty. We too can decline to be a guest to your forum.

Just like Singapore - or the PAP gahment if you like - has prided itself for its integrity, whether in the appointment of justices or officials, or the way it does things. These are all above board and internationally acknowledged. If this forum is to be respected - notwithstanding its negative association - then some good ought to come out of it.

Every moderator will bring their own personal biases and prejudices to the table as behind every nick is a human being. I have my pet hates too.
