The Singapore Sports Council (SSC), organiser of Sunday's Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore, has disqualified the runner-up of the full marathon Local Women category.

The runner - who had come in second place in a time of 3hr 26min - had been running using someone else's bib.

Josephine Wang had originally signed up for the run, an SSC statement said on Monday. But she did not compete in the race and passed her bib to another unnamed participant to run in her place.

Ms Wang has since confirmed in writing that she did not take part in the 42.195km run.

Wow, did she pass the bib to an illegal immigrant? If win prize money, split 50-50?

Walao...like this also can. Take driving test can also use replacement or not?

LOL

The runner up was a woMAN? supposedly to be a woman!

next year i enter myself for the marathon but get AK to run it for me.

Ah tiong and ah neh already using replacement for exams. That's why can't write English, still can pass English proficiency tests. I'm going serangoon to look for some illegal immigrants from Africa next year...

If Josephine had a penis and tried that stunt for her IPPT, she'll be thrown straight into DB. ;)

Maybe she just want the accomplishment of finishing the full marathon and then post it on facebook for glory.

One thing I don't quite understand, not the first time any of these races or marathon, I mean in SINgapore, elsewhere too, where someone will win and then get disqualified for running with another person tag or bib or..??

Why can't that "winner" get his/her own tag etc??

sometimes registration is already closed and if you have not registered in time, then you wait and see if someone who has registered cant make it due to work, illness etc.... so u still get the chance to take part although you missed the cut off time for registration....

I think all marathon participants should be tested for performance-enhancing drugs.

Some of them are very competitive and will go to any means for gloryhunting.

OIC...then the "offending" party is darn lazy, should have just run the race & shouldn't aspire to win, right?

And coincidentally the person she gave the bib to was runner-up.

can win, or get placing (so that an official time is recorded, it matters to runners etc) but then should have come clean, before accepting prize..

although this is one way of taking part when registration is closed, most organizers discourage this, as there can be a safety issue as well....if you take over someone's bib/place, race and finish with no hiccups, disasters, all well and good, but imagine what happens if there is an accident, and the organisers try and contact next of kin, etc
