Squid game

I really loved the show and it resonated a lot with my wife and me.
I totally agree your points.
The way I see it is those people who are working hard and struggling buy lottery in the hopes they can win and no longer have to work so hard, sometimes wish they could die and no longer have to suffer (depressed or burnt out from work) will be able to much better relate to the characters.
You are right. Thats why comfortable retirees who dont have to worry about money no longer stressed about work and paying bills and supporting children will find the show boring.

The characters are all losers and I have no sympathy for them whatsoever. One guy tried to do a Nick Leeson instead of just using his superior intellect to trade within the rules.

Another gambles away all his money every time he has some and then borrows money to further fund his addiction.

The Paki who is owed money by his boss can easily get another job in booming S Korea.

The guy I can relate to is the old fart with a brain tumor.

What about the gangsters?

And the doctor doing organ harvesting?

Or the undercover cop looking for his lost brother?

Or all those foot soldiers circle faces? I can relate to those circle faces.

Undercover cop - I need to watch more episodes before I can figure out what is going on with him.

Doctor doing organ harvesting.... is he making money or does he have to play the game and risk death just like everyone else?

You watch lah. I had those questions as well. Which made me want to watch and find out.

The other way is to just read the spoilers on line episode synopsis and plot. No need watch.

I have to weigh the boredom of watching vs the curiosity of wanting to know what's going on. :D

I think I'll go to the spoilers.

I did that too. Takes too long to watch. I just want the plot advancement. All the soppy emotional stuff is drag for me too.

Watched 25 minutes of the first episode and fell asleep in the process.

Does it get any better or is it more of the same?
Perhaps you should continue with your beauty sleep. I also find it "more of the same" and rather predictable in fact.

I found Episode 6 to be the most representative of real life.

When it comes to the crunch the people close to will stab you in the back and the trusting but low IQ will bear the bulk of the brunt of the evil that dwells within us.

The doctor doing organ harvesting reminds me of the doctor rejected for immigration to Canada

Season 2 should be back soon judging by the popularity… this time perhaps the destitute will chose the red color and join as guards instead
