A FIRE broke out at a HDB void deck in Bukit Batok West Avenue 8 at about midnight on Wednesday.
It occured on the ground floor of Block 172 near the letter box.
A man and a woman, both middle-aged, were rushed to Singapore General Hospital for smoke inhalation.
The fire involved discarded items that were left near a rubbish bin next to the letter box .
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said that it received a call about the fire at about 12.10am and rushed a fire engine, a red rhino, an ambulance and a support vehicle to the scene five minutes later. The fire was brought under control in five minutes. SCDF said that it is still investigating the cause of the fire.
