After reading this, it may set you thinking. It’s just a possibility and reflection of the world we live in today.
There was a movie where a girl went for a job interview, and ended up doing sexual favors for the hiring manager. These incidents are common in countries like India and China and Philippines – bribery, corruption and immoral behavior. It’s a way of life there.
I am now worried about the future of our people who have children. With many foreign hiring managers in Singapore, you don’t know what goes on behind closed doors. Such is our state of society today. Remember that these foreigners came from corrupted countries and they are hiring managers now. In the future, when your son or daughter goes for interview, will this happen? Are the laws governing employment, employee welfare here strong enough to prevent exploitation?
There are many cases of workers not being paid wages, foreign worker levies being off loaded onto the worker. This goes a long way to show the character of e employers around us. in western countries, they have effective commissions, bodies and sometimes a watchdog rep right in the workplace. Hiring positions are most often than not, given to locals. They have Local native businesses rather than relying on MNCs.
Sure, law enforcement agencies are doing a good job but it’s not possible for them to be everywhere, solving and prosecuting every case all the time. Corruption cases have steadily been increasing the last few years. More effective laws are needed to curb corruption which make the work of law enforcers easier. Such systems are already in place in western countries.
A quick look on the Internet personals and friendship sites reveal many ads showing “expat looking for company” , ” reward offered” , ” anyone in need of financial help?” type of ads. Also in the mix are job ads which discriminate.
Sleaze hub, gambling hub, exploitation hub. Is that what’s happening around u? Take a hard look around u before dismissing that such things are not possible here. We can already feel it. Our once peaceful society is degenerating in the name of globalization.
If u have any concern about the lives and welfare of your children , be aware and informed. U do not want yr children, especially girls being exploited by corrupt foreigners who seem to have an upper hand in society.
Some if these foreigners are not afraid of the law , obviously because they aren’t locals. A local will think twice before committing illegal acts for fear of a permanent black mark in record.
Vote wisely.
Here are a few things u can do to keep our country safe from corruption
1) always have a audio and video recording device. Eg iPhone and other smartphones with timestamps
2) lay a trap. Be surprised how many foreigners will fall for it
3) know the law and it’s procedures.
Remember prevention is better than cure.
