Every year, some people choose death over dialysis when their kidneys fail.

Without dialysis to clear toxins in their body, they are unlikely to survive long.

But there are others who are forced to forgo dialysis because they cannot afford it, or because their families said no.

At the Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH), 24 patients suitable for dialysis declined the procedure in 2011.

This is indeed very sad and disturbing for people to want to choose to die in the world's wealthiest cuntry!

What have you got to say Millionster Gan?

Better to die than to fall sick.

Uniquely Singapore.

I wonder why NKF is not helping with dialysis.... ;)

sg is a great place to eat shit and die. almost always, your fully functioning organs are highly appreciated. at least some parts of you can live on. :p

For those who chose to die, they would be better off dying outside of Spore.

They can get a cheap freehold plot :)

Disgusting. If all PAppy ministars chip in just 10% of their salaries, they would save all these 20 people who refused treatment due to cost.

This has got nothing to do with whether a country is rich or the cost of dialysis.

In NZ, ALL dialysis is paid for by the taxpayer but my friend's uncle opted to die too because he felt that he had led a full life and the quality of living having to depend on dialysis to keep going was not his idea of fun.

He called as his family and relatives and they came to say their goodbyes and he died after 3 weeks. I said my good byes to him too. It was very sad but the choice was his.

He told me before he went that he was following the advice of a fellow dialysis patient who did exactly the same thing.

The campaign to blame all of life's little tragedies on the PAP is getting so pathetic that it is no longer funny. Human beings are imperfect creatures and we live in an in imperfect world. Shit happens in every country regardless of who runs the show.

That's fine if that's your choice and they give you shit loads of morphine.

But what if you want to live on and have no $$$ for that?
