She had always done well both academically and in her co-corricular activities since her primary school days.

But her family, being traditional, valued males over females, and her brother over her.

No matter how well she did, she was never praised by her parents, not once in her life.

Hoping for someone to acknowledge her, she had turned to her friends and the internet.

She had also felt that stripping online was very 'fashionable' and it was only right to show off her body – 'If you've got it, flaunt it'.

Counsellors say that the girl was lucky that her family had found out and rein her in before she went any further.

But according to counselors, this sort of act takes time to gradually evolve to such extremes.

In such a phenomenon, children as young as 12 may put up cute photos of themselves on the internet in hopes of getting attention and praise.

However, by the time they are 14 or 15, a combination of exposure to porn websites and being egged on by peers and netizens, may lead to them exposing themselves online like the 22-year-old undergrad.
