<!-- START OF : div id="storytext"--><!-- more than 4 paragraphs -->POLICE are looking for anyone who can shed light on the body of a baby boy found dumped on a staircase landing in Bukit Batok on Wednesday afternoon.
The dead infant, found naked in a white plastic bag, is the second baby to be abandoned in a month, and the fourth this year. All were dead when they were found.
A 28-year-old cleaner made the discovery as he was cleaning the common areas. The landing was between the second and third floors of Block 334 Bukit Batok Street 32.
He told his supervisor, who called the police.
Paramedics who arrived at the scene with two officers pronounced him dead at 6.15pm.
According to the cleaner, the baby was fair-skinned and about 25cm long. The average length of a full-term baby is about 50cm.
There was no blood on the body and the umbilical cord had been cut.
Less than a month ago, another dead baby was found behind a bus stop in Yishun Avenue 4. It was not possible to ascertain the infant's gender or age.
On March 25, the body of a baby boy was found in a rubbish bin at the transit area of Changi Airport's Terminal 1.
No one has been arrested in connection with either death.
But a 23-year-old woman was arrested when the body of her stillborn infant was found stuffed in the electrical riser outside a Jurong West flat on Jan 3.
She pleaded guilty to concealing the birth of her child by secretly disposing of the body. She was placed on supervised probation for two years.
