His father is Amarjeet Singh, a former judicial commissioner and also a senior counsel, who served on the United Nations war crimes tribunal for the Balkans.
Dinesh’s mother is the former Nominated MP and orthopaedic surgeon Dr Kanwaljit Soin and a director of the London-based HelpAge International, a global network helping the disadvantaged elderly.
He has been charged with cocaine consumption. If convicted, he can be jailed up to 10 years or fined S$20,000 or both.

This guy was charged for consumption of cocaine in October 2004. He was represented by K.Shanmugam who asked the court to impose a "heavy fine". Bayi was sentenced to one year imprisonment in February 2005 based on the established 12-18 months jail term benchmark for similar cases. On appeal, the then High Court judge, V.K. Rajah, cut it to 6 months plus 2 additional months for "deterrent" effect. So total, 8 months.

This guy's reduced 8 month sentence was the lowest meted out to those convicted in the drug bust in which he was one of 23 who were arrested and charged either with trafficking and/or possession and/or consumption. Those who were convicted for consumption and/or possession received sentences ranging between 11 and 27 months.

After reducing his sentence and without any blushing and any sense of shame, V.K. Rajah declared with a straight face:

"The elite in Singapore cannot legitimately expect to, and in any event will not, be accorded preferential treatment by the courts".

Bayi started his sentence in early April 2005. After a mere 3 months in prison, he was released and served the rest of his prison time under "home detention", in the comfort of his home.

Bayi had access to all the comforts of home; fucking his Swedish (Note: Indian pride at work) fiancee Katarina Scheele, eating to his heart's contents, watching movie, shitting in privacy and comfort, etc, all that other prisoners had and have no access to and which made V.K. Rajah looking like the stereotypical forked-tongue Indian snake when he made his "deterrent" remarks after "adding" 2 months just after he reduced Bayi's sentence from 12 to 6 months. As this forked-tongue Indian declared:
