AFTER years of hiatus in singing, Manilyn Reynes is back to inspire and honor all working mothers around the world.
Manilyn recently released her latest single dubbed “Pasensiya Na” which is a composition dedicated to every working mother, especially those abroad.
“It’s (single) a lullaby for all the children of very hard working mothers here and abroad… especially OFWs (overseas Filipino workers). A mother apologizing to her kids - why she can’t do the things a mother should do to and for her children,” she shared.

As a mother, Manilyn said she admires OFWs who choose to be away to provide food for their families. Through her song, she hopes to convey the braveness and sacrifices of OFWs to everyone.
“It’s actually very real, it is happening now. Mothers go abroad and work hard to give their children a good future. Mothers don’t mean to make their children grow up alone unattended. Mothers only want the best for their children all the time,” she said.
“But sometimes there are sacrifices we need to make and go through no matter how painful they may be, if they could mean we’ll be able to give our children the best. I salute our OFWs, it is tough really, to be away from our family,” she added.
Manilyn disclosed that recording “Pasensiya Na” was agonizing for her. As she was also a career-driven mother before, Manilyn regretted the times she failed to attend to the needs of her children.
“While recording the song, it was like I was pinching my own heart. Every line of my song ‘Pasensiya Na’ just really makes me guilty. At some point, I went through the same (neglecting my kids’ needs) because I’ve become very busy then. But I’m sure all mothers, given the situation, try to find ways,” she said.
Manilyn hoped that every working mother could learn to fill the gaps in their family like what she had successfully done. “We check on our kids. Like I call when I am working to ask about my kids’ assignments, and we answer then over the phone at times. And we try hard to make up for those times we weren’t around.”
“Pasensiya Na” will be part of the 14th album of Manilyn to be launched at the Music Museum in time for Mother’s Day in May.
The lyrics were penned by Manilyn’s manager Olive de Jesus while the music was arranged by Olive’s husband Dan Salamante.
The video of “Pasensiya Na” can be viewed on YouTube. Some OFWs gave positive feedbacks on the video lauding Manilyn’s noble gesture of recording the song for them.
“This song really touches the heart of every mother like me who works across the world. I can’t help but cry when I hear the song. Thanks to the composer of this song and also to you Manilyn. ‘Mahal na Mahal ko kayo mga anak, nagtitiis ako dito sa US na mag-alaga ng matanda para sa inyo’,” one viewer said.
Aside from recording, Manilyn is also currently busy with her Pan de Pugon business located along Edsa
