Finally have chance to practise my Malay with contractors and workers. Some common words used when talking to them are:
belum - not yet
sudah - already (done)
mau - want
tak mau - don't want
ada - have
tiada - no
tambah - add
nukar - change
buang - throw
sampah - rubbish
atas - above (floor)
bawah - below (floor)
semua - all (house)
depan - front
belakang - back
besok pagi/petang - tomorrow morning/afternoon
satu kali, dua kali - one time, two times etc
satu hari, minggu - one day, one week
cuci - wash
cat - paint
tingkap - window
pintu - door
dinding - wall
tangga - staircase
rumput - grass
Good for fellow Singaporeans who don't know Malay to know these words for self help when liaising with contractors and workers.
