Snatch thief arrested <!--10 min-->

A SNATCH thief was arrested just four hours after he committed the crime on Tuesday. The victim, a 37-year-old woman, was walking along Block 706 Yishun Ave 5 at around 4.30pm, when the suspect came from behind and snatched her handbag. After seeing the 39-year-old suspect run up the stairs of the same block, the victim called the police immediately. Officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division responded by sealing the access points of Block 706, and did a floor by floor search and extensive enquiries. With that, they managed to narrow their search to a unit which the suspect was believed to be hiding in. The unit was subsequently raided in an operation, and the suspect was arrested at about 8.25pm on the same day. The suspect will be charged in Court on Thursday.
