Snatch theft foiled

SINGAPORE: Three men foiled an attempt by a robber who nearly made off with a woman's handbag in Choa Chu Kang on Sunday evening.
At about 7.30pm, the suspect approached his 22-year-old victim from behind and tugged at her handbag.
He managed to snatch her handbag and ran away in the direction of Choa Chu Kang Central.
The 32-year-old culprit was stopped by three men, aged 20 to 39, at Block 353 Choa Chu Kang Central.
The victim's handbag, containing a handphone worth S$400, S$40 in cash, a wallet valued at S$20 and other personal documents, was recovered from him.
The suspect will be charged in court on Tuesday, and faces up to seven years' jail and caning if convicted.
