SMU Professor of Economics Hoon Hian Teck said that the best way to boost workers' welfare is still through creating jobs and generating growth. He hopes that the mandatory wage ladder model will not be extended beyond the cleaning and security industries.

Mandatory wage ladder a clean sweep for workers | News | Singapore Management University (SMU)

How does creation of jobs and growth generation will boost local workers' welfare? It will cause the economy to be competitive but how does it make the job better for the low wage worker?

Its obvious nowadays, workers are considered as assets to be exploited. Nothing more than figures in the ledgers.
