A 38-year-old online vice-ring pimp, who received nearly $2.6 million in revenue and earned over $1 million in profit over five years, was yesterday jailed for more than seven years and fined $130,000 in one of the largest cases of its kind.

He was also ordered to pay a $152,893 penalty for tax offences.

Chew Tiong Wei had earlier pleaded guilty to 28 charges, and admitted to another 73 which were considered during sentencing..

$2.6 million is what he earned, $1 million is said to be his profit but who knows? How did pappies calculate his profit earned? Surely, OKT did not keep balance sheets. More sensible to punish him on what he received, and not on what he claimed as profit. Dumb pappies indeed.

Jail time in hotel changi not as bad as people made it out to be. Ask around and there are still people who are not afraid to go back. They are afraid of the rotan, not the jail time.

Gambling is both legal and illegal ... gamble with Spore Pools, it is legal. Gamble with bookies, it is illegal. Prostitution is harmless if no underage girls are involved. Pappies cannot eradicate prostitution but safety of young girls must be protected from exploitation by OKTs.

When multiple charges are preferred against an accused person, the court has the silly practice of taking "charges" into consideration. Dumb pappies and their judges.

The mata mata worked their butts off to pile charges on the offender and in court, "charges" are taken into consideration when the offender is sentenced. No other country in the world has this kind of stupid criminal justice system.

One sentence for each charge to run consecutively and all criminals will never go back to crime again.

It will only encourage a criminal to go on a crime spree and in the end if caught, he will be sentenced not for his crime spree but on charges decided by the court and all efforts made by mata mata to pile charges on the offender gone down the drain.

Even a stinking foreign ah neh worker knew about jelly laws in sinapor ... he was going on a crime spree for nearly over 2 years .. and he knew he would not be sentenced for his string of offences.

A Govt that jailed this ah neh for just 2 years for his crime spree is hardly good example of efficient criminal justice system in sinapo. Jail him on each charge consecutively and all foreigners in sinapo will learn to behave like sheep. Let him rot in prison if need be but please, do not send the wrong message to foreigners squatting in the island.

A shake up of the courts is needed. Otherwise, who is afraid of going on a crime spree?
