Hehe Very smart , every day go home half hour early so that can avoid overtime.. This is a new trick . I just learnt from you ! But what excuse / reason can you give for such an arrangement ?
Normally , it's young mothers who need to leave half hour early so that they can be on time to pick their children up from child care , otherwise they will be fined for being late. For you , you have no family commitment , I wonder what excuse do you give. Hehe
During your 4 - 5 years of unemployment , do you still go to the casinos ? Anyway , I am sure your bad luck is over now. However the industry you are in seems to be properly related so you are surely affected as the new total debt financing rule will surely have a great impact on property buyers since we can't loan big amount to buy house any more..
Well at the time in 2010 when the boss asked the 2 of us then who enjoyed 2 afternoons off per week to consider working 'more hours' to reduce the stress on our secretaries, my colleague simply agreed to giving up 1 of the 2 afternoons off making it a simple 90% work week from the original 80% - while I only agreed to give up 1 afternoon and in return to 'space-out' the Mons-Thurs ending at 5.30 instead of the standard 6pm making it an 85% work week for me. My reason for this was because I wanted to avoid rushing with the 6pm crowds and after all I was supposed to be on semi-flexi basis - told them I have a LIFE after work and don't wish to be late for my appointments etc Explained that SINGLES do have a LIFE and want to work Less Hours too for Better Work-Life Balance etc etc etc
My boss is quite flexible and there are a number of others on such flexi-time arrangements - eg there's one who comes in half-hour earlier and leaves half-hour earlier too [she lives in JB] and also she goes off on several months of Unpaid Leave too every year in order to join her husband who's working in Australia [hoping to make baby], there's another of my peers who only works half-days on Mon, Wed & Thurs and full days on Tues & Fri [the 2 afternoons that my colleague and I are OFF], there used to be 2 colleagues who only worked half-days - either mornings or afternoons too but one has since left and the other converted to full days sometime last year [because she was pissed off at the HR calculation of leave & benefits etc]. In my case I didn't want such problems/misunderstandings and had specifically got these written into the Employment Letter at the very start eg. for Public Holidays falling on the Half-Days, there would be a Half-Day in-lieu Leave {just like for Sats} so it's really easy for me to take really long weekends here etc
I didn't really have the objective of 'avoiding OT' - just so happened that they later modified the appointment slot timings to be 2.30pm, 3.30pm, 4.30pm, 5.30pm after lunch from 2.15pm, 3pm, 4pm, 5pm. So I 'benefitted' in that the last appointment slot for me would be 4.30pm and PROVIDED the clients are not late - should be able to finish by 5.30pm which means I can quickly 'tidy up things' and can go off punctually at 5.30pm while the rest would only go off after 6.30pm etc IF they have 5.30pm last appointments [There used to be a male colleague who had arrangements to start work only from 11am but he did extra-late 7pm appointments too {he used to play jigs in a band} but he has since left a couple of months ago - so now the boss has asked my peers to work late/come in late for ONE Day per week to cater/pander to this late 6.30-7+ pm clients' appointments - but there are still VACANT Days as some of us like me simply REFUSED to come under this arrangement - not much use for us to come in 1-2 hours later as our day would have been spoilt in attending to such aggravating late appointments !]
Anyway they have AGAIN lately modified the slot timings due to us having to do our own photostating of the clients' ICs and documents instead of getting the 5 receptionists to help us out here [because of persistent complaints that calls to the office remain unanswered] - we now have 2 shifts for lunch either at 12.15pm or at 1.30pm - so that the appointment slots are now timed from 9.45am [instead of from 10am - extra 15 mins added to each slot to do our own photostating], 11 am, 12.15 pm [for those on later Lunch Shift 1.30pm], 1.30pm [for earlier lunch shift 12.15pm which I'm on - better as less crowds !], 2.45pm, 4pm [my last appointment with margin for late clients too - hurray], 5.15pm for the rest + Late 6.30-7pm appointments for those who agreed to such. We are all given ONE free slot per day to attend to other issues & sign letters etc prepared by our secretaries. Anyway with poor business, there would be more free slots opened up - as less clients to attend to here sighzzzzz
At our last monthly meeting, the boss said we're free to ask for Half-Day Work Arrangements or Unpaid Leave etc etc etc since there's so much less work now & even mentioned retrenchment & downsizing etc etc etc …..
During those 4-5 years of unemployment I was still with the ex - he's a keen casino-goer but only plays baccarat
I would accompany him when he goes to the casinos occasionally - at LW, Star Cruises, Poipet in Cambodia [went on several week-long trips with fully-paid accomodation/meals just by rolling chips], ….
He went alone a couple of times to LJ too [He doesn't like Genting saying No Luck there]
In those days I would just play a bit of slots when I could but he'll frown on it as he thinks me Very Silly as to him slots are a one-way street - only loss etc No art/technique etc
I came into some 'small' money one year and did some travelling [without him] and did enter the casinos in Genting, Melbourne & Sydney and that tiny casino in Interlaken, Switzerland
Altho' the ex treated me to a Christmas trip to Sefeld Ski Resort [Austrian Alps] while I was over in Europe and said I wanted to see some snow, I did not go into the casino there with him
I got increasingly interested in slot-playing in Poipet since there was nothing else for me apart from the cheap massages etc and I had lots of FUN there and once won quite a bit too
BUT both the ex and my mom are against my slot-playing sighzzzzzz
Actually I only went 'all out' after signing up for Annual Levy at MBS - to quickly reach Gold etc to get the Membership Benefits
STILL WAITING to strike the BIG Jackpot sighzzzz - so elusive !!!!
