That's where u are wrong. Many of those people working there earn v little pay. Mos prob pack lunch or try to walk outside and get cheaper alternatives.

Yes there are of course other places but the cheaper places will be crowded & you only 1 hour for lunch. I wouldn't be surprised if the landlords Far East & Capital collude in hiking the rentals.

I used to work in Shaw Buiding many, many years ago and few of my colleagues packed lunches. Back then I ate at MacD, Burger King, Lido Theatre,.. Could have gone over to Far East but didn't always have the time to do that. That place can get very crowded during lunch time

Suspect the landlords will gradually raise the rent until on par with Ion

REIT is just another scam by the PAP. They already own most of the properties in Spore. GLCs have been flipping the properites among themselves, each time raising the "value" . Now they call these properies REITs :rolleyes:

They were created through loopholes .
They did not create value like employment like jobs . But by striking deals .

I don't think they will now, because their traffic is already getting lower and lower, with the opening of the new malls.
They need to attract more people somehow, and raising the rents to the current retailers will only make the retailers go away or raise their prices, which will reduce traffic even more.
What I think they will do, is to go for a makeover and increase the rents after that. :(

With the closures of those stalls at Ion, I hope the management of the various Orchard Rd malls take note that there is still a recession.

As for the PAP, the only way to get through to them in their ivory towers is to kick them out.
