Sinkie asks why SAF officers travel business class

I remembered flying on chartered SIA and thai airways flights for SAF overseas training.
We officers get to sit in first class. But only sat on the seats sans service.
Service was non existent on these flights. And crew was minimal strength. I heard later many flight attendants siam these SAF flights due to misbehaving NSmen.

When war broke out, officers from the SAF are supposed to lead their men to fight the enemy in order to protect lives and properties So what is wrong in letting them enjoy some benefits during peace time?

Can i ask if other armies are flying commercial. Because i know ameeican troops coming back from war only takes contractor planes

All armies charter aircraft to fly their troops. Both back and forth. Their own airforce might not have the airlift capability, and even if they did, they need it to ferry cargo.

Very rare to have misbehaving NSmen. Regular SGT and SSGT, and even officers are placed in the economy section with the men to make sure they behave themselves.

They already enjoy many benefits in peace time, you need to draw the line somewhere. What's next, free petrol for their cars? Free massage for them every day?

Reservists especially if meet Hokkien Pengs.
Back then some weren’t so well travelled and never been on a plane. Some bugger would raid the toilets for sanitary napkins and throw them around.

No military policemen on board?

Officers have too many perks already ...how can they lead if they are so detached from their soldiers?
