Man who had sex with underage girl caught naked by her parents​

SINGAPORE — A 24-year-old man who had sex with an underage girl was caught by the girl’s parents when he emerged from her home toilet naked.
Teo Yao Hong was then slapped by the 15-year-old girl’s father while her mother called the police.
Teo asked if he could dress up but the girl’s mother said he could not until the police arrived. He was later arrested and a pair of underwear was seized.
On Thursday (7 October), Teo was jailed for one year and 11 months after he pleaded guilty to three counts of sexual penetration of a minor under 16, which occurred between June and October last year, when the victim was between 14 and 15 years old. Another four counts of a similar nature were considered for his sentencing.
Around the same time, Teo, then a Grab driver and warehouse assistant, was also seeing a 16-year-old girl whom he had met through social networking app MiChat. He was also engaged in sexual acts with this girl between May and October last year.
In October 2019, he discovered that his then 16-year-old girlfriend had sex with another man. He claimed that he felt “cheated and disappointed” with her and wanted to “feel a bit better”.
In June last year, Teo returned to using MiChat to speak to other girls. He met the victim, then 14, and entered a relationship which he described as “friends with benefit” with her. He initiated sexual intercourse with the victim on at least four occasions.
On 28 June last year, Teo texted the victim for a meet-up. She agreed and provided her home address. The two met at the void deck of the girl's block for the first time, with the girl wearing her school uniform.
The girl agreed to Teo’s request for sex and they proceeded to a staircase landing where they engaged in sexual activity.
Two days later, Teo asked the girl to meet again. He went over to her flat while no one else was at home. The pair then had sex.
On 19 October last year, Teo again texted the girl, who said that she did not have school that day. After Teo learned that the girl was alone at home, he decided to visit.
The two had sex and went to clean up in the toilet. As they were doing so, the girl’s parents returned home. Teo hid in the toilet for about an hour, triggering the suspicion of the girl’s father.
Eventually, Teo emerged from the toilet naked. The girl’s father asked Teo if he knew how old the girl was and Teo replied that she was 15. Furious, the father slapped Teo while the mother called the police.
“The accused asked if he could be dressed, but (the girl’s) mother said he could not do so, and had to wait until the police arrived. The accused was then arrested and a pair of underwear was seized,” said the prosecution.
The phones belonging to Teo and the victim were also seized.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Chong Kee En said a jail term of at least two years was "more than fair" for Teo.
Teo had displayed a degree of predatory behaviour given that he chatted up two different girls online and was older than the victim by some seven years. He had also engaged in sexual activity with both at the same time, increasing the risk of sexually transmitted infections.
For sexual penetration of a minor between 14 and below 16 years old, Teo could have been jailed for up to 10 years, or fined, or both.

There is no exact numbered age that they will be eligible for marriage.
In the ancient times, counting age as in digits and numbers are not prominent for daily living. People live according to their comfort.

So in Islam it is important that the father (or in his absence, her legal guardian; that is the uncle or grandfather or brother) makes the call for allowing their daughter's marriage.

Criteria like age, maturity, puberty, readiness, character of suitors, all go into the decision making. Bottom line is, that the assumption the father wants the best, knows the best and will decide in the best interests of his daughter.

Thus in ancient times women as young as ten years old (or younger) are fit enough to be married.

However in todays age, any parent will be reluctant to marry off their princesses before 16. Hope it explains.

Edit: Finally, in Islam, the rules of allowing the young to marry will negate instances like these. Also there is no such thing as statutory rape in Islam. When there is consent, there is no rape.
