Long-serving ex-AG Tan Boon Teik dies, aged 83

He became AG at the age of 39

Singapore's longest-serving Attorney-General, Mr Tan Boon Teik, has died at the age of 83.

His daughter Sui Lin said he collapsed on Saturday morning after suffering from internal bleeding.

'His death came as a shock and was very sudden,' she said.

Mr Tan had also been suffering from Parkinson's Disease for the last 15 years.

SINGAPORE: Former Minister Lee Kuan Yew expressed sadness in the death of Singapore's former Attorney-General, Mr Tan Boon Teik.

The late Mr Tan died on Saturday.

Mr Lee sent his deepest condolences in a letter to Mr Tan's widow, Sook Yee, on Monday.

He said he had worked with Mr Tan for 23 years when he was Attorney-General and found him efficient, competent and always ready to find a solution to difficult problems.

Mr Lee said he hopes the family would be consoled by the thought that he was a good father and a good-hearted man.

He said that he held Mr Tan in high esteem.

I know it's not good to talk bad about the dead but just to provide a different perspective of the man. Francis Seow who was a colleague of TBT for many years, wrote in one of his books (can't remember which one) that TBT was scared shit of LKY. Seow said that every time TBT was notified that LKY was going to call him, TBT would be worried sick the whole day while waiting for that call. He would be pacing up and down his room and mumble to himself asking why, why is LKY calling me for. He would start to fret over all possibilities and scenarios while waitng for that call. Seow as a good colleague of him then had to tell him to calm down and take whatever is to come. In other words, Seow was telling him to have more "balls" than that instead of behaving like a virgin bride imagining how she was going to be screwed. This tells us what sort of a man TBT really was isn't it? But whatever he was, may he RIP, and God Bless His Soul.

So now that the Dowager has up the lorry & LKY is a rambling, feeble, old man. We've see that LHL is not up to the task.

They might have run out the potential opposition but there's still the ambitious members of the PAP. I doubt that LHL can control them
