Who's going to pay for Najib's F1 dream?

'If the nation's coffer is overflowing, please give some to the poor especially the Penans and other fellow rakyat who live in the interior.'
Ex-PM backs Najib's F1 dream
Watcher: Before we conclude whether this is a good or bad idea, let's hear out the prime minister on how this big project is to be financed and by who. Gentlemen, no taxpayer's money again, please.
If the nation's coffer is overflowing, please give some to the poor especially the Penans and other fellow rakyat who live in the interior.
Michael: Malaysia's government should buy over (Formula One regulation body) FIA from Bernie Ecclestone instead of participating in F1 as a team. We can then change its name to 'Formula 1 Malaysia '. This will enable our country to get the cheapest publicity worldwide, throughout the entire year, and not confined to the few racing hours .
We can also decide on the venue of F1 races, and perhaps remove Singapore from the F1 calendar. Billions of ringgit in funding should not be a problem during the recession as our government can always issue 'Formula 1 Malaysia ' unit trusts or perhaps Petronas could step in in helping our nation achieving 'our' dream.
Proton will be allowed to race, but of course with the technology and engine supplied perhaps by Porsche to increase the chances of taking the chequered flag. Also in conjunction with the '1Malaysia' concept, we should have four local drivers in F1: one Malay, one Chinese, one Indian, and one 'lain-lain' to reflect the peaceful racial integration in our country.
We love 'Formula 1 Malaysia'.
Why bury a criminal?
Arthur: We have our benevolent and magnanimous home minister who thought that the cow's head crowd were the victims. And that it was such a pity that Noordin Mohd Top was shot dead instead of being re-instated and re-educated.
Noordin had killed many innocent lives in the name of 'jihad'. How are we to atone for the loss of the victims' loved ones? Our home minster who saw no problems with brandishing a keris, he should re-educate himself first. His foot is always in his mouth while all his advisers tell him what he wants to hear.
Gen2: He was a terrorist killing innocent people so how do we call him a true Muslim? So don't talk of giving him a Muslim burial at the expense of Malaysian taxpayers. I like the statement by the police chief of Indonesia: "We will send his body back so that he no longer 'ganggu rakyat Indonesia'.
Omar Mohd Noh: Unless found guilty, how can we dub him a criminal? Being a Muslim and having his family and relatives back home, please bear in mind, those found guilty by our own courts. After being confirmed dead accordingly, if no one claimed their bodies, our government would still have them buried according to their beliefs.
Paul Warren: Noordin is the first Malay jihadist martyr. So of course he has to be given some aspects of a state funeral. Perhaps that would include using taxpayer's money to bring him back for is burial.
Lonestar: No Angus, you have got it wrong! Chin Peng is a living ex-communist nationalist, Noordin is a dead "berani mati" terrorist. We all have plenty to figure. I agree with what you have to say regarding reasons why Top should not be returned at taxpayers' expense.
Opportunist: Home minister! You did the dumbest thing again! Why do you has to mention to the press that the government will help Noordin's family to bring back the body for burial? Why does this mention gets prime time news? Thanks for downgrading Malaysia's image further, again, in the eyes of the world and Indonesia.
I am working in Jakarta and have access to RTM1 news and everyone in the world was delighted he was gone. All except for the Malaysian home minister who spoke of him as though he was a national hero lost at war. It was aired all over here as a joke.
Ida Bakar: Noordin was a Malaysian Muslim, hence this eagerness for his burial to be in the 'proper way'. As in the previous body snatchings cases, there is no concern for wider implications in this case.
