The body of a man was pulled from the Singapore River in front of The Riverwalk, at Upper Circular Road, on Thursday afternoon.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force said it received a call at about 4pm and retrieved the body using rescue lines. The man, in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene and was clad in a short-sleeved shirt and a pair of bermuda shorts.
In a separate case on Thursday, the authorities were alerted at about 4pm to a body, believed to be that of a man in his 40s, found in the Kallang River. The body was retrieved from the waters near Kallang Watersports Centre with the help of a boat operated by national water agency PUB .
The Straits Times understands that a cleaner, who works for a PUB cleaning contractor, spotted the body floating under a section of Nicoll Highway at about 3.30pm and alerted his supervisor who called the police.
