Singapore scolds Myanmar Junta for killing its own people

Chee Bye! Singapore is interfering in Burma's domestic affairs. And is foreign funding the economy and government through direct investment s. What the Fuck? How can foreigners have a say in Burma government.

It took so long for PAP to say something bad about the Junta. Is our Government under pressure from United Nation and only now than started to pretend to show concern?

Myanmar should emulate Thailand n transform Yangon to be the next Bangkok n develop their beaches to beautiful resorts...They have the resources n manpower!

Never mind the maids that we see here. There are many Burmese beauties there. If only the Juntas willing to emulate their Thai counterparts, I'm sure Rangoon has the potential to be the next big thing in South East Asia's sex tourism industry. But then again, I think the Juntas are more interested in producing heroin than promoting their girls to the rest of the world.

Really? Myanmar bu's chio? I'm not familiar but according to my friends who have been there their beauty standards are a bit weird compared to ours. Also, if the military is in charge I don't think vice will be as open (like Vietnam under their communist government)

I think back in Yangon, the Juntas are laughing at Vivian while sipping whiskey and smoking their cigars.

In 2014, our tugboat docked at Yangon Port for 3 days. That was the first time I been to he country. 2nd day we went out for some small shopping. Agent there brought us to this night club called Zero Zero. That club considered atas for Burmese standard. Freelancers alot hovering around our tables. Looks quite on par with Thai girls. Some Chinese looking, some bit like Malay. Agent told us he could arrange girls to be brought back to our rooms but we declined. Can't remember the rate but if not mistaken one night cost around $50 SGD for the girl's service. Then there are beauty salons and massage parlors. The agent told us the girls there offer whole package service. And we also heard the Thai - Myanmar border, many Thai girls would cross that border to work as pros there. Surprised to hear that.

I'm sure u regretted deeply not utilising that S$50 for the pleasure that it would have given u!

For that price for one night, very cheap as compared to the rates in Bangkok or even those whore houses at some rural places in Thailand. We declined because we had a tough incoming job to do that week towing a rig to Martaban Gulf. And to be honest, our hotel area surroundings also felt abit dodgy as we're not familiar with the country.

Sinkies see the London cigarette brand no up, but that brand is super popular in Myanmar.

Fellow ASEAN countries need to send in their troops to stop the massacre. Let's go to war!:biggrin: And see what our Generals are made of.

SINGAPORE (Reuters) - Singapore's foreign minister said on Friday it was a "national shame" for the armed forces of a country to use weapons against their own people as he called on Myanmar's military rulers to seek a peaceful solution to the unrest in the country.

"It is the height of national shame for the armed forces of any country to turn its arms against its own people," said Vivian Balakrishnan, repeating that Singapore was appalled by the violence against civilians in the country.

The United Nations has said at least 54 people have been killed since the Feb. 1 coup. More than 1,700 people had been arrested, including 29 journalists.

Balakrishnan and his counterparts in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) had held talks with a representative of the junta earlier this week.

Singapore along with a number of other ASEAN foreign ministers have called for the release of political detainees including civilian leader Aung San Suu Kyi.

Balakrishnan said on Friday the foreign ministers were in daily contact with each another over Myanmar.

However, he said that while ASEAN should play a constructive role in facilitating a return to normalcy and stability, there would be s limited impact from any external pressure on the situation in Myanmar.

"If you look over the past 70 years, the military authorities in Myanmar, frankly, do not respond to economic sanctions, do not respond to moral opprobrium," the Singapore minister said.

He said that while references to the ASEAN charter and human rights declaration were essential, they were not sufficient to change the junta's behaviour.

"The keys ultimately lie within Myanmar. And there's a limit to how far external pressure will be brought to bear," Balakrishnan said.
