Singapore PR from Philippines felt discriminated that there is no paid childcare leav

Re: Singapore PR from Philippines felt discriminated that there is no paid childcare

Until the government reduces foreigners working in Sinkapore by 90 percent, all foreigners should be treated as threat to the livelihood of Sinkees.

Dear Winniepegjets:

If the gov't does what you suggested:-

- Who's gonna walk the dogs' belonging to Sgns?
- Who's gonna work the cash registers at most supermarkets, 7-11s?
- Who's gonna work at the shipyards doing welding and painting?
- Who's gonna wait on them at restaurants (including private clubs)?
- Who's gonna maintain the roads and sewerage systems?
- Who's gonna drive the trucks hauling goods?
- Who's gonna provide security services in their commercial buildings and condos?
- Who's gonna provide the nursing services at hospitals?

Whilst I sympathize with the locals and their plight with the torrential influx of foreigners, I see the reliance the society has on these "Foreign Trash." Even some professional jobs like laboratory chemists, are reliant on foreigners. It is up to Singaporeans to set a standard ot moral and ethical behaviour that the visitors are impressed by and inspired to emulate that is the better (and long term) solution.

Cheers!

Re: Singapore PR from Philippines felt discriminated that there is no paid childcare

...contribute to the country's wealth and cultural diversity...

Don't agree with that at all. You are entitled to your own opinion, just don't plant your ideas into my mind like PAP. What is wealth to you may not be so to me. As for cultural diversity, I just see it as cultural destruction.

That is what happen when the PAP keep reinforcing the idea that Fts are indepensible. Their sense of entitlement is growing and growing.

Hi:

1. The hundreds of millions of dollars contract Sg's shipyards were awarded to build offshore rigs (Sg is the biggest in the world today) - who are most of the workers?. If they were higly paid Singaporeans, you think Keppel/Smebawang could've won these contracts?

2. Culture: let's look at one group of foreigners, Pinoys vs. Singaporeans: Filippinos have a national dress, are well into music and dance, what's Peesai's national dress? National dance?

I am furthest from being pro-PAP, and not in support of their policies or propaganda - just speaking from what I see.

As far as I see, no Singaporean parent currently wants their children to work in services - they all want to be served. None of my nephews and nieces in Sg even carry their dinner plates to the kitchen sink, let alone do the dishes. It is a state of attitude that needs to be addressed. If not, then its the foreigners who will be hired to do them.

Cheers!

You seem to have some problems comprehending.
1. You have already imposed your preconceived notion of wealth on me.

2. Just because SG has a short history and no identifiable cultural attributes does not mean alien cultures should be imported wholesale and embraced.

Again, this is the problem of Asian cultures where the idea of equality is not extended to every individual. If the solution is to import foreigners, I have no wish to be part of it. If you think this solution is correct, you contribute to the problem.

Spock:

1. This notion of "wealth" is not mine. It is the view projected by Sg's media. The choice of words for expensive cars, condos, and lifestyles are worded "For those who have arrived." by much ofthe local media.

2. Sg's culture had no chance to evolve, it was killed by the Ministry of Culture/Education. By eliminating the use of dialects and replacing them with "Mother Tongue." I wonder whose mother in Sg is a Mandarin?

Myself, at this point in my life I would prefer a more egalitatian society, but my Singaporean relatives say I am idealistic. I don't see how I am contributing to the "problem." I am only here to work,

Live long and prosper!

Cheers!

Re: Singapore PR from Philippines felt discriminated that there is no paid childcare

There are lots of benefits from having Foreigners as your colleagues, neighbors, employers and employees.

A more Diverse society is needed in Singapore, But one thing I don't agree with the government is using Racial quotas when controlling the new-citizen flow, I would like to see more foreigners who are non -Chinese, Malay or Indian being given citizenship. A multi-culture and diverse society is the way to go. It will ultimately be a win for us, Society will be so different, so vibrant and "Native" Singaporeans will themselves start thinking and behaving differently.
