The best flats are these old ones at Tiong Bahru, super spacious with high ceilings. A lot of ATB live there as they work as hostesses at 天安门 nightclub nearby at Apollo hotel. On a good day you can see a bunch of them showing half balls at tiong bahru market FC having meals.

The older HDBs all have high ceilings. You can't even call them high ceilings... more like normal height ceilings, and the architects had a respect for the people living in them.

Because Sinkies have been conditioned to think that touching the HDB flat ceiling with a little hop is normal, those normal height ceilings are perceived to be high.

If you have seen these flats the ceilings are really higher than normal high. Some even have huge ceiling fans installed, the kind with very long fan blades.

designed by angmohs when sg was still a brit colony. many old british home designs have high ceilings. 120-year old victorian homes in sf have 10-ft ceilings.
